I sit here with a "gift from God" IQ and my family has never quite come to terms with my decision not to focus on money, degrees, honors. When I was younger, I was strong and it was nothing rare for me to stay awake 3-4-5 days at a time, immersed in what I was doing and not willing to go to sleep. Life is STILL fascinating.

I have been a railroad conductor, a die-maker, a prototype machinist, and organic gardener, a computer instructor, a green grocer, a minister (ordained twice, in two different religions), a crises counselor ... all of which I was successful at.

But I had a higher calling and I have made it plain many times, that not pursuing wealth - fame - power was a conscious decision, deliberately made after thorough examination of what I felt my core values were.

As a single Dad with full custody, I just raised my sons.

There is no greater honor than for a man to be entrusted with the raising of children. God let me raise two of them ... and he trusted me to do it by myself.
