Litany of Catholic abuse scandals in Ireland
LONDON (AFP) -
Accusations of wide-ranging abuse in Catholic institutions in Ireland, including but not limited to the sexual targeting of children by priests, date back several decades.
In a sign of the scale of the abuse, 14,500 people applied for compensation through an Irish government scheme for those abused at juvenile facilities run by religious groups between 1936 and 1970.
As Pope Francis prepares to meet some victims during a visit to Ireland this weekend, his first as pontiff, here are the most prominent cases to come to light:

In February of 2018, 50-year-old Jill Messick, a one-time talent representative for #MeToo heroine Rose McGowan, took her own life.
In June of 2018, 61-year-old Anthony Bourdain — celebrity chef, world traveler, and boyfriend of #MeToo heroine Asia Argento, hanged himself in a Paris hotel.

Jill Messick, Hollywood Executive and Rose McGowan Ex-Manager, Found Dead of Apparent Suicide
Hollywood producer and one-time talent representative for actress Rose McGowan, Jill Messick, was found dead from an apparent suicide Wednesday. She was 50.
In a statement, Messick’s family said the former film executive was driven to despair by the continuing controversy over the sexual assault scandal surrounding Hollywood movie mogul Harvey Weinstein.
Messick’s family said she had been “victimized” with renewed allegations by actress Rose McGowan that she had been sexually assaulted by Weinstein during the time Messick represented her as an agent and manager.

Compromised’ Author Details Comey-Mueller Relationship that Earned Comey $36 Million in One Year
During Thursday’s “Hannity” on Fox News Channel the author of the Government Accountability Institute’s “Compromised: How Money and Politics Drive FBI Corruption” discussed his new book that details how former FBI Director James Comey and special counsel Robert Mueller both “made millions” by selling out insider expertise to the highest bidder.
In the Fox News appearance, Seamus Bruner describes how Comey worked at Lockheed Martin by 2009 was given “at least 160,000 stocks and stock options,” which he said was worth “upwards of $30 million” on top of making $6 million in one year.
Bruner added that due to his relationship with Mueller and the high amount of value for the government contracts with Lockheed Martin, it “strains credulity” to think Mueller did not sign off on the contracts.
The book also lays out how Mueller went on to cash in when Comey took over the FBI, and he opened a consulting firm, making $3.5 million a year giving speeches and representing clients he had previously enriched.
