sauce: Both candidates were on the offensive during the Dallas debate. Cruz looked to paint O'Rourke as someone "radical" and out of touch with Texas while O'Rourke argued that Cruz has not done enough for Texas residents while serving in the U.S. Senate.
Cruz said he has lived up to promises he made on the campaign trail when he first ran for the U.S. Senate in 2012. He has advocated for lowering taxes, securing the border and defending the constitution.
O'Rourke said Texas should be a leader on immigration and should help, "rewrite our immigration laws in our own image," a thought he shares frequently on the campaign trail.
He said that Cruz "has promised to deport each and every single Dreamer."
Cruz and O'Rourke also clashed on questions about law enforcement and the second amendment.

Sauce: What has Democrats hoping they can reverse that trend is the state’s shifting demographics. Namely, the state’s Latino population is booming.
