They have so much invested in a violent and dramatic response if RR is fired, with propaganda and protests planned.

What happens when you keep dipping your toe past the line and bait them into responding even 10-20% before they realize it's a false alarm and pull back?

The waters on this will get so muddy that a concise reaction to their "red line" event will no longer be possible once RR is actually confirmed as being removed or resigning.
