United Nations Accidentally Exposed Passwords and Sensitive Information to the Whole Internet

THE UNITED NATIONS accidentally published passwords, internal documents, and technical details about websites when it misconfigured popular project management service Trello, issue tracking app Jira, and office suite Google Docs.

The mistakes made sensitive material available online to anyone with the proper link, rather than only to specific users who should have access. Affected data included credentials for a U.N. file server, the video conferencing system at the U.N.’s language school, and a web development environment for the U.N.’s Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs. Security researcher Kushagra Pathak discovered the accidental leak and notified the U.N. about what he found a little over a month ago. As of today, much of the material appears to have been taken down.

Russia planned to smuggle Julian Assange from Ecuador’s embassy in London

Russia and Ecuador canceled at the last minute a secret plan to smuggle WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange out of the Ecuadorean embassy in London after it was deemed “too risky”, according to a report. The Australian-born founder of the whistleblower website was granted political asylum by the government of Ecuador in June of 2012, after Swedish authorities charged him with rape. He claims that the charges are part of a multinational plot to extradite him to the United States, where he is wanted for having leaked hundreds of thousands of secret government documents. He has thus refused to leave Ecuador’s embassy in the British capital since June 2012.

Medical Malpractice Death 500 Times Gun Accident Fatalities

A Johns Hopkins University study covering eight years of data found there are at least 250,000 malpractice deaths in the U.S. annually. CNBC reports the Johns Hopkins University study presents malpractice deaths on the low end, since other studies show malpractice deaths exceeding 400,000 a year.

On the other hand, accidental gun deaths hover around 500 a year.

Five Eyes Surveillance Alliance Wants Developers to Build Backdoors Into Encrypted Apps

According to statements published by the Australian government, the Five Eyes intelligence alliance have declared their intent to get software and hardware developers to insert backdoors that would enable governments to have easy access to encrypted data. Five Eyes is a sharing alliance for intelligence agencies. They are focused primarily on working together with English native speaking tongues. In this case it is the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia and New Zealand. All parties follow the UKUSA Agreement, a multilateral treaty. While Australia has been a member since 1956, only in 1973 the Prime Minister became aware of the existence of the multinational surveillance alliance.

Alliance Tightening Noose on the Deep State

It has not reformed itself in spite of the losses it had incurred so far. The reforms at the Vatican bank is merely optical, and the planned debt jubilee has not been implemented yet.
