Robert went rampage on the 39th anniversary date of his father's death.

His father found out about bad stuff happening in the village, they accused him of rape to get him locked up… and he didn't commit suicide but they decided to kill him to make him shut up. I mean, who kills himself by shooting in the chest?

That would make the shooting an act of revenge.
