ThanQ!

My father was sooo pissed when he found out that my first real job was paying $25/hr to start.

This was back in the early nineties.

At the time, he was working for the State DoT and was making something like $18/hr.

He had been there almost 15 years at that point.

Neither.

I lived like I made minimum wage and saved the rest.

I also never turned away 'gift-horses' out of pride.

This might have been mostly true 15 or 20 years ago.

Not these days.

I approve of this statement.

Much too old for that now.

If I had a do-over, I'd go with a friend of mine and become a Core Driller.

He used to get DOUBLE OVERTIME pay + HAZARD pay when the company sent him overseas.

EVERY CENT was banked at this point because his company paid for everything they needed.

6-8 months of work and it was like he'd worked 4 or more years.

Agreed.

Unfortunately, kids these days have ZERO interest in actual hard work, discipline and, most importantly, restraint. (ESPECIALLY when it comes to spending).
