It's also a primal urge to get out from under the r/K thing. Conservatives are wolves, liberals are rabbits. Both involve fairly big populations. Libertarians (the kind I was,anyway) are like grizzly bears and would just rather live far enough away from everybody else to not have to deal with their shit at all.
