I find that highly unlikely. It's not impossible, but I really don't understand where they would be staged from.
It's kind of crazy to think that we typically do not think of geography in regard to our capability to project our military presence.
I would argue that the antichrist as a person is largely a construct of religious institutions to guard against future attempts to reform the institution. It implants the suggestion "do not trust good things."
It's true that some things are too good to be true, and evil loves to cloak itself in light. However, it's rather clear to me that our world was being built around evil - that antichrist and beast had reign over our world for centuries.
I don't see how mistrusting people on the basis of their plans for improvement and charismatic capacity is truly rational. I understand the fear - we are used to bad things being hidden behind smiles and pleasantries. It's part of the stockholm syndrome development, though - fear of the unknown can be more powerful than the pain of enduring the known.
