Thank you for that explanation, Anon. I am reposting images of my dumb (but possibly common) question and your insightful answer, just in case other Anons have been dogged by this question, as I was. I'm not very knowledgeable about military things. It's at times like this that I really, really miss my late father, cuz he was a JAG lawyer for one of the branches of the military.
