Although I did go to a two year program that was sponsored by one of the Big 3 and worked as an automotive technician, I did so at 31 years of age, after eleven years of working on heavy equipment. Grew up poor, learned how to repurpose things out of necessity. THAT, is a skill set that needs to be pushed hard.

Right on.

In my forty five years of knuckle busting, it has never ceased to amuse me how so many people look down on guys like us.

Until they need something fixed.

Then we are heroes for fifteen seconds. Just long enough for them to drive off.

I have been finding and repairing old cast iron power tools, like drill presses, grinders and table saws and such the past couple of years.

Either get 'em free or dirt cheap. Spend a few bucks on parts, most of it is elbow grease cleaning up rust and gunk.

After I'm done they will last one, maybe two more lifetimes. Fuck this plastic garbage they have been selling for years now.
