You need to study Bible prophecy. The duplicity of Catholic apologists is revealed in that they say that Rome is Babylon when they attempt to put Peter in Rome using 1 Peter 5:13. However, they deny Rome is Babylon when it is clearly in view prophetically as "mystery Babylon, in Revelation 17-18.

The Bible was not given to us by the Catholic Church. That is another false claim made in a vain attempt to establish their authority. The Old Testament came via the Jews, not Christians. The New Testament books were in existence in their present form at the close of the apostolic age, long before the Roman Catholic Church was established (as you can learn at the above link).

Catholics argue that since the Council of Hippo in 390 A.D. proclaimed which books were actually inspired and placed them in one volume, all are indebted to the Catholic Church for the New Testament and can accept it only on their authority. The first problem with that false claim is that the church of 390 was not the Roman Catholic Church. The council consisted of North African Bishops, Rome had nothing to do with it.

Actually, David Hunt is a futurist not a historicist, but he is one of the few futurists that correctly see Rome as the anti-Christ and does a great job with Rev. 17-18.

The problem with his view is he doesn't (as the reformers and all historicists do) make the application that ALL the Popes are anti-Christ, the dynasty of Popes, the system itself. Hunt is looking for a FUTURE individual, the FINAL Pope to be the anti-Christ.

You seem to be completely ignorant of prophecy and common terms such as symbolism, metaphor, analogy. Not everything in the Bible is meant to be taken literally. Many passages are clearly symbolic. Where symbols are used, they are defined by the Bible itself so that a private interpretation is not necessary and actually invalid.

Sometimes the interpretation is given in the same passage:

Revelation 17:15 - "The waters you saw, where the prostitute sits, are peoples, multitudes, nations and languages."

So water is symbolic and the interpretation of the symbol is given to us in the passage itself and cannot be mistaken for something else or taken literally.

Daniel 7:17 "These four huge beasts represent four kingdoms that will arise from the earth.

In the book of revelation, John draws on symbols defined in Daniel centuries earlier. Daniel gave a prophecy that reaches the end of time so the composite beast of Rev. 13 is made up of the beasts in Daniels since Rome inherited the characteristics of the cultures it had conquered. In Rev. 17-18 a corrupt woman (representing a corrupt Church) is riding a beast (kingdom) portraying a Church controlling a political kingdom.

The woman you saw is the great city that rules over the kings of the earth.”

Let me emphasize the text makes her an intermediary through which we must go to receive mercy (salvation) and to whom we should give praise and prayer. Most are secular and of those who are religious, the vast majority follow the Talmud instead of scripture alone. Of those who claim to follow scripture, like the Karaite Jews, they disbelieve what the prophets wrote about Christ and therefore don't truly follow scripture. Even of those who are consistent in following the scriptures, including those scriptures which speak of Jesus, such that they become Messianic Jews, many still cling to the law of Moses which is obsolete (2 Cor. 3-7, Gal. 3 15-29), not understanding we are now under the law of Christ (Galatians 6:2, I Corinthians 9:21). Not to be too harsh on them because many Christians have not properly understood this either. Most rejected their Messiah, in favor or a corrupted form of Judaism - dead rituals and religious rules rather than a relationship with the God all of the scriptures they were given had pointed to. Others believed what the prophets had written, including the Pharisee Nicodemus (John 3:2). In fact, all of the early Church were Jews that believed (Acts 2). The gospel didn't come from Rome, it came from Jerusalem. It didn't come from the Gentiles, it came to the Jews first, through them, and later to the Gentiles.

When the spirit came at Pentecost, in Acts 2, they were in Jerusalem, and the crowd were Jews from all over coming for the high feast day. Verse 5 says "Now there were staying in Jerusalem God-fearing Jews from every nation" Peter addressed them as "Fellow Jews" and "Fellow Israelites" and then laid this bombshell on them in verse 36, “Therefore let all Israel be assured of this: God has made this Jesus, whom you crucified, both Lord and Messiah.” In other words, he was the fulfillment of all the Jewish prophets had written about the coming Messiah, the promised seed of Abraham, the "King of the Jews". Who were the people being saved here at the launch of the Church?

The handwriting of ordinances was "the law" written down by Moses. It was not just ceremonial, it included the 10 commandments which were recorded twice in it, along with various other laws.

Hebrews 8:13, 2 Corinthians 3 7-18, and many other texts agree that the old covenant made with Moses is annulled and we are now under the new covenant with Christ.

Paul explains the two covenants in Galatians chapter 3, in very distinct terms.

== The law (of Moses) that came 430 years later (than the covenant of faith with Abraham) does not revoke the covenant previously established by God …freely granted it to Abraham through a promise (the promised coming seed Christ).

The thing to notice here is that Christ had to come as the promised seed of Abraham (Christ was Jewish) and fulfill what all the JEWISH PROPHETS had written about him.

To add insult to injury, Rome slips in the Catechism, divorcing their flock from the pure word of God, so they are left to privately interpret its dogmas, instead of the Bible.

The truth is that Catholic unity and Protestant divisiveness is a myth, perpetrated by deception. There are of course disagreements today just as there were in bible times. The Church fathers of the early centuries championed various doctrines and disputed with each other, which is recorded for all to see.

The very fact that they did so showed that the concept of an infallible magisterium in Rome with authority to decide matters of faith, is a complete fabrication. When Rome did enter the picture, it brought division eventually causing a split with the Orthodox and in time led to the Protestant reformation. As for the false pretense about an absence of non-Catholic Christians before Luther, here is a short article on early Church history. It shows that authentic Christians existed all through Europe, hiding from the inquisitors in remote areas. Besides which, the Orthodox Christians split from Rome long before Luther did. You talk about the word Catholic being used by early Church fathers but it did not refer to the Roman Catholic Church at that time. It simply met the universal Church or body of believers everywhere. Papal authority was not established until much later. There were bishops in Rome, just like there were bishops elsewhere, but they were not "Popes" with authority. The Edict of Justinian in 533 gave legal authority to the Bishop of Rome, it did not by apostolic succession from Peter. Still, political battles between East and West brought uncertainty over which bishop would be Pope.

In 588 AD, John IV the Faster, Patriarch of Constantinople, is granted the title of "ecumenical" or "universal bishop," and in 595 AD, his rival the Bishop of Rome, Gregory I, protests the title of "universal bishop" saying such a claim is a sign "the antichrist is near" and calls it a "proud and profane title". Yet a political reversal ensued and Emperor Phocas transferred the title from Constantinople to Rome. Boniface then took the title "Universal Bishop", the same office he had previously proclaimed as anti-Christ . The Eastern orthodox chaffed under the Popes and finally split with Rome in 1054 AD. Meanwhile, authentic Christians remained hidden in mountain valleys and remote areas all through Europe from the earliest centuries, having nothing to do with apostate politicized institutions.

To this day, Eastern Orthodoxy has the official name Orthodox Catholic Church and is not Roman. Since the word Catholic does not mean Roman Catholic, though most people today associate Catholic or Catholicism with Roman Catholicism in common speech, even I do, though I know the difference. To this day, Eastern Orthodoxy has the official name Orthodox Catholic Church and is not Roman. The word Catholic does not mean Roman Catholic, though most people today associate Catholic or Catholicism with Roman Catholicism in common speech. Even I do, though I know the difference.

Here is an example of you "twisting scripture to your own destruction" (2 Peter 3:16). In the graphic you posted, it says Jesus: "Jews are children of Satan" (John 8:44). However, if you look up that chapter and check the CONTEXT he did not say that. He was teaching in the temple court to a group of people. In verse 31 "To the Jews who had believed him, Jesus said, “If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples". In the group were also some scheming Pharisees who were plotting to kill him, he said to them your father is the devil.

The seventy weeks (490 years in groups of sevens for those not familiar with the terminology) allotted to the Jews by Daniel's prophesy expired at the stoning of Stephen and the Gospel went to the Gentiles. Actually, the Protestant Reformation was launched in 1517 by Martin Luther, professor of moral theology at the University of Wittenberg, Germany. Protestantism is actually much older, but it was Luther who galvanized the movement into a force to be reckoned with. The Church of England came later and is a harlot like its mother, but not nearly as corrupt.
