Illegal Alien Living in Texas Sentenced to Prison For Voting in 2016 Election Using Fake ID

It looks like another illegal alien was encouraged by Barack Obama to vote in the 2016 presidential election after he was promised no repercussions.

Enrique Salazar Ortiz, 63, was sentenced to nearly 3 years in prison for voting in the 2016 election by using a stolen ID.

Salazar Ortiz, a native of Mexico living near the San Antonio, Texas area was convicted of making a false statement on a passport application, unlawful voting by an undocumented immigrant and aggravated identity theft, the San Antonio Express-News reported.

Ortiz used the ID of a man named Jesse H. Vargas Jr. when he voted in the 2016 election, according to reports. It is still unclear how many elections Ortiz Salazar illegally voted in.

Fox News reported:

Authorities said a man with Vargas’ name and birth date had left the area as a teenager, when the now-57-year-old man’s family moved to California. But despite that, someone has used Vargas’ ID to vote in local elections “since at least 1994,” Bexar County elections administrator Jacque Callanen told the Express-News.

A public defender told U.S. District Judge Fred Biery that three other men had used the Vargas identity over the years. She said Salazar Ortiz began using the name several years back after buying a birth certificate from a man in a bar for $20.

His fake ID was detected by the State Department in December 2016 when he mailed in a passport application, the newspaper reported, adding that he was arrested during a raid at his home in August 2017.

US Attorney for the Western District of Texas, John Bash said Ortiz Salazar’s illegal vote is equivalent to suppressing a vote, because an illegal vote offsets a legal vote.” Adding, “We won’t abide it.”

Enrique Ortiz Salazar is one of the many tens of thousands of non-citizens (if not more) in Texas (and the US) who voted illegally in US elections.

On Friday, Texas Secretary of State David Whitley issued an advisory on voter registration list maintenance activity and the analysis revealed tens of thousands of non-citizens are not only registered to vote, but they are voting in elections.

The Texas Secretary of State announced Friday: 95,000 individuals identified by DPS as non-U.S. citizens have a matching voter registration record in Texas, approximately 58,000 of whom have voted in one or more Texas elections.

Voting in an election in which the person knows he or she is not eligible to vote is a second-degree felony in the State of Texas.

This is why Democrats want open borders and no ID requirements to vote in elections.

Democrats are also pushing for non-citizens to be given driver’s licenses so they can register to vote under ‘motor voter’ registration laws.

YouTube Tweaks Recommendations Algorithm To Block Videos By Flat Earthers, 9/11 Truthers

YouTube has already employed a number of strategies to suppress content its owners have branded "conspiratorial", "hateful" or otherwise contrary to the company's Silicon Valley value system - including demonetizing videos and deplatforming controversial content creators like InfoWars. Yet, criticisms about YouTube being a breeding ground for these non-mainstream, Overton-window-expanding ideas have persisted. Now, the company is trying something that could potentially harm the company's treasured view-hours metric: Tweaking its algorithm to stop users from being ushered into conspiratorial "rabbit holes" on everything from flat earthers, to the 9/11 truther movement, to purveyors of miracle cures.

According to the Daily Beast, the streaming video website is tweaking its recommendations algorithm to overlook content that "comes close" to violating - but doesn't explicitly violate - YouTube's "community guidelines." The company estimates that this will impact less than 1% of all videos posted on the site.

To be clear, these videos will still appear on YouTube, and they can still be displayed in search results. The only thing that will change, according to the company, is their placement in the recommendations bar or queue.

This could be a huge blow to Flat Earthers and others, who count YouTube as their biggest recruitment tool. But then again, that's the whole point: YouTube said the policy does an adequate job of balancing free speech with the public interest.

Currently, conspiracy theories like Flat Earth count YouTube as one of their largest recruitment tools. At the second annual Flat Earth International Conference in November, most participants told The Daily Beast they’d converted to Flat Earth belief after watching YouTube videos on the topic. Some said they’d started watching videos on conspiracies like 9/11, and eventually saw Flat Earth videos recommended in their YouTube feeds; others said they went looking for Flat Earth videos, and were recommended a stream of new Flat Earth videos.

Guillaume Chaslot, a former YouTube employee who worked on the site’s recommendation algorithm in 2010 previously told The Daily Beast that the algorithm can push people down conspiratorial rabbit holes.

"I realized really fast that YouTube’s recommendation was putting people into filter bubbles," Chaslot said last year. "There was no way out. If a person was into Flat Earth conspiracies, it was bad for watch-time to recommend anti-Flat Earth videos, so it won’t even recommend them.”YouTube has also faced criticism for the prevalence of far-right videos in its recommendations. A BuzzFeed investigation on Thursday found that, over the course of nine recommendations, YouTube took a viewer from a non-partisan clip about Congress to an anti-immigrant video uploaded by a hate group. (When The Daily Beast tried a similar experiment in a cookie-free Incognito browser last month, it took four clicks to travel from a recommended video on YouTube’s homepage to a video on the far-right “red pill” theory.)

However, there's at least one group that disagrees: The Flat Earth Society.

The Flat Earth Society condemned YouTube's decision. "While it's unfortunate that this will no doubt affect some of the most prominent Flat Earth content creators, the Flat Earth Society has been prepared for years. Any social network can pull the rug from under your feet if it decides that your content is no longer welcome - which is why we've never relied on these businesses too much," the group told The Daily Beast. "Who knows - perhaps it's time to start looking into a video sharing service of our own."

But don't worry: We're sure YouTube's latest crackdown won't arbitrarily and unintentionally punish conservative voices and other content creators falsely labeled as "nazis" and "conspiracy theorists".

Seven SEALs Granted Immunity in Iraq War Crimes Prosecutions

New details in the case against a Navy SEAL charged with multiple war crimes emerged Friday, during a marathon motion hearing at Naval Base San Diego.

The hearing revealed that seven Navy SEALs have been granted immunity to testify for the prosecution during the upcoming trial of Edward R. Gallagher, a chief special warfare operator alleged to have murdered a wounded teenage ISIS combatant by stabbing him in the neck.

The trial phase is scheduled for Feb. 19. Prosecutors expect to call the seven SEALs and up to 13 additional witnesses of the May 2017 incident in Mosul, Iraq.

Defense attorneys asked the judge, Navy Capt. Aaron Rugh, to suppress some aspects of those witnesses' expected testimony, particularly the numbers of people Gallagher allegedly bragged about killing.

Witnesses told NCIS investigators that Gallagher bragged about killing up to 200 people during the 2017 deployment. Another witness said Gallagher told him he killed "three a day" and to "do the math" for the total number he killed.

The defense argued that these figures would prejudice a jury panel. The judge denied the motion.

Defense attorneys also asked that evidence seized from three of Gallagher's cell phones be suppressed. All evidence in the case is under a protective order, but photos, videos and text messages are part of the government's case against the SEAL.

Gallagher took the stand and testified that when he was arrested on Sept. 11, he was not allowed to call his attorney. NCIS interrogators asked him to use his fingerprints to unlock his phone, he said, and investigators watched Gallagher enter his pass code, which they then used to unlock his other devices.

The judge had not ruled on that motion as of late Friday evening.

Prosecutors also revealed they have a knife recovered from Naval Special Warfare Group 1 in Coronado and that it tested positive for DNA. They did not say whose DNA or that it was the murder weapon, although it was undergoing further testing.

More details about the battle that precipitated that alleged murder also came to light.

Prosecutors said the incident began May 3, 2017, with a drone strike and two Hellfire missiles hitting two sides of a home in Mosul.

Witness statements conflict about whether the injured ISIS fighter was inside the home when it was struck. The prosecution says he was, but the defense said their witnesses say he was injured by gunfire, not the drone strike.

A campaign operative who built his career on smearing political enemies, publicly calls women the C-word and consulted for attorney-turned-Ponzi-schemer Scott Rothstein has become one of Sheriff Scott Israel's trusted political guides.

The sheriff's relationship with Roger Stone is a bond of contradictions, tying Broward's highest-ranking Democrat with a longtime Republican-turned-Libertarian. The sheriff is a man of old-fashioned manners who rarely curses, and who talks about integrity at every turn. Stone hurls profanity at women on social networks, and once called Sheriff Israel "an unqualified punk, a racist and a thief.''

Publications from The New York Times to the National Enquirer to the Washington Post have written about Stone, a distinctive looking, bleached-blonde, fashion aficionado with a strange Nixon tattoo. He's been termed a "professional lord of mischief, a "boastful black prince of Republican sleaze, and on the cover of New Yorker, the label most often affixed to him: "The Dirty Trickster.''

The political hit-man-for-hire usually has his hand in national contests — he's a veteran of presidential political campaigns from Richard Nixon to Ronald Reagan to John McCain to Donald Trump.

Lately, though, he's been plying his political trade from a new perch. Stone, 61, and his wife, Nydia, 66, moved from Miami Beach and live in Fort Lauderdale now, in the Coral Ridge area.

Stone helped get Broward Sheriff Israel elected. And now, Stone has the sheriff's ear.

When Israel took the sheriff's helm in early 2013, in the first five months he added to BSO's payroll Stone's book-writing partner, Stone's book publicist and Stone's long-time executive assistant. He had Stone's stepson transferred to detective, though it was early in his career, with just two years at the Sheriff's Office.

Stone's connections to BSO reach higher. His longtime friend Ron Gunzburger, who connected him with Sheriff Israel in the first place, is the agency's general counsel.

Stone is known for dredging up titillating tidbits from a candidate's past and presenting it in the worst possible light. He's been known to infiltrate an opponent's campaign, and to distort the truth in misleading robocalls to voters, with fake caller ID labels.

But Israel said he has no criticisms of Stone's negative campaign tactics, even those used against him.

Israel said it's clear Stone is effective. When Stone was against him, he lost. When Stone was on his side, he won.

"For him to be on my side," Israel said, "I'm very fortunate."

Stone declined to meet with the Sun Sentinel for this article, but responded to questions via email.

"Politics in South Florida ain't beanbag," he said. "My activities are legal and protected by the First Amendment. When I do it, I just do it better."

Israel said the only law enforcement topic Stone has pressed him about so far is animal cruelty and micro-chipping of pets. Stone's a pet lover; he and his wife have three Yorkies and three cats. In response to Stone's concerns, the Sheriff's Office created an animal cruelty flier depicting the sheriff posing with a dog.

Stone said he doesn't lobby the Sheriff's Office and has no clients or business at the Sheriff's Office. He said he did all the campaign work for Sheriff Israel for free.

U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo called on allies to 'pick a side' on Venezuela, and described its President Nicolas Maduro as part of an 'illegitimate mafia state' responsible for the country's economic collapse.

Pompeo was addressing the 15-member U.N. Security Council on Saturday, which met at his request after Washington and a string of countries in the region recognized Venezuela's opposition leader Juan Guaido as head of state.

Pompeo urging the U.N council to back Guaido and called for free and fair elections as soon as possible, adding that Maduro must step down.

'Now it is time for every other nation to pick a side. No more delays, no more games. Either you stand with the forces of freedom, or you're in league with Maduro and his mayhem,' Pompeo told the council.

With mounting protests over Venezuela's crisis in which more than two million have fled shortages of basic food and medicine, Pompeo asked all nations to 'support Venezuela's democratic transition and interim President Guaidoa's role in it,' he said.

Russia tried to stop the meeting but it was voted down with nine of the 15 members agreeing to go forward.

Moscow opposes the U.S. efforts and has accused Washington of backing a coup attempt, placing Venezuela at the heart of a growing geopolitical duel.

'Venezuela does not represent a threat to peace and security,' Russia's U.N. Ambassador Vassily Nebenzia told the Security Council.

'If anything does represent a threat to peace, it is the shameless and aggressive action of the United States and their allies aimed at the ouster of the legitimately elected President of Venezuela,' he said.

Russia, China, South Africa and Equatorial Guinea blocked a U.S. push for a U.N. Security Council statement expressing full support for Venezuela's National Assembly as the country's 'only democratically elected institution.'

Ahead of the public meeting, the United States circulated its draft Security Council statement, which said: 'As conditions in the Republic of Venezuela continue to deteriorate, the Security Council expresses its full support for the National Assembly as Venezuela's only democratically elected institution.'

CIA was Aiding Jihadists before Soviets Invaded Afghanistan

Originally, there were four parties involved in the Afghan conflict which are mainly responsible for the debacle in the Af-Pak region. Firstly, the former Soviet Union which invaded Afghanistan in December 1979. Secondly, Pakistan’s security agencies which nurtured the Afghan so-called “mujahideen” (freedom fighters) on the behest of Washington.

Thirdly, Saudi Arabia and the rest of oil-rich Gulf states which generously funded the jihadists to promote their Wahhabi-Salafi ideology. And last but not the least, the Western capitals which funded, provided weapons and internationally legitimized the erstwhile ‘freedom fighters’ to use them against a competing ideology, global communism, which posed a threat to the Western corporate interests all over the world.

Regarding the objectives of the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan in December 1979, the then American envoy to Kabul, Adolph “Spike” Dubs, was assassinated on 14 Feb 1979, the same day that Iranian revolutionaries stormed the US embassy in Tehran.

According to recently declassified documents [1] of the White House, CIA and State Department as reported by Tim Weiner for The Washington Post, the CIA was aiding Afghan jihadists before the Soviets invaded in 1979. The then American President Jimmy Carter signed the CIA directive to arm the Afghan jihadists in July 1979, whereas the former Soviet Union invaded Afghanistan in December the same year.

That the CIA was arming the Afghan jihadists six months before the Soviets invaded Afghanistan has been proven by the State Department’s declassified documents and admitted by The Washington Post, which is owned by Jeff Bezos, the owner of Amazon. The Washington Post has a history of working in close collaboration with the CIA as Bezos won a $600 million contract [2] in 2013 to host the CIA’s database on the Amazon’s web-hosting service.

Fact of the matter, however, is that the nexus between the CIA, Pakistan’s security agencies and the Gulf states to train and arm the Afghan jihadists against the former Soviet Union was formed several years earlier.

During the late 1970s, Pakistan’s then-Prime Minister Zulfikar Ali Bhutto began aiding the Afghan Islamists against Sardar Daud’s government, who had toppled his first cousin King Zahir Shah in a palace coup in 1973 and had proclaimed himself the president of Afghanistan.

Sardar Daud was a Pashtun nationalist and laid claim to Pakistan’s northwestern Pashtun-majority province. Pakistan’s security establishment was wary of his irredentist claims and used Islamists to weaken his rule in Afghanistan. He was eventually assassinated in 1978 as a result of the Saur Revolution led by the Afghan communists.

Pakistan’s support to the Islamists with the Saudi petro-dollars and Washington’s blessings, however, kindled the fires of Islamic insurgencies in the entire region comprising Afghanistan, Pakistan and the Soviet Central Asian States.
