"If you gave me six hours to chop down a tree, I'd spend the first four sharpening my axe." – Abraham Lincoln

From last bread…

I'm the one that posted my journey to become self-educated on marketing, sales, graphic design, etc.

The key to success in ANY career/endeavor is to CONTINUALLY read, listen and learn each and every day.

Schools fuck us up by punishing failure. Instead, they should reward it.

Here's one of my favorite sayings:

Knowledge comes from studying.

Learning comes from failure.

Wisdom comes from suffering.

Failures have made me who I am. I never learned a single thing when I succeeded; not once.

When you truly love what you do, money has a way of showing up… bigly.

I now charge $7,500/day for marketing consulting (and get it).

My dedication to self-improvement paid off WAY more than a marketing degree. I run circles around younger people that graduated and then STOPPED reading/learning.

Another trick is to become adept at multiple skills; it will make you bullet-proof during recessions.

I can help companies with branding, positioning, lead generation, lead nurturing, trade show execution, advanced sales training, creation of collateral pieces, team building, fractional sales training, marketing automation, CRM adoption, keynote speeches, customized workshops, using personality and values assessments, etc.

During speeches, I bring a small paper bag onto the stage. I tell the audience that I found a magic machine. Every time I put $10 into it, I get a check for $1,000 sent to my office. I ask if they want to see it. After a pregnant pause for effect, I pull out my Kindle and let them know that every single time I read another business book, I'm rewarded by selling yet another service to my clients.

Never, ever stop learning and getting out of your comfort zone!

p.s.: Toastmasters doesn't help people just give better speeches. It develops leaders! Find your local club and get involved!

YES!

I tell every young person to read "The Dream Giver" by Bruce Wilkinson.

I learned from that book that the people closest to us unconsciously talk us out of pursuing our big dreams and goals because they're afraid of losing us. Deep down, they don't want us to become wealthy, famous and/or move away.

Very enlightening.

I stopped running my ideas past family and friends.

Fail forward. Fast! Learn and don't repeat same mistakes. Rinse and repeat… daily!
