Patricia Kathleen Shea and James VanDerveer Liddle were married Saturday by the Rev. Charles D. Morris, a minister of the Reformed Church in America, at the Old Dutch Church in Sleepy Hollow, N.Y.
Mrs. Liddle, 31, works in Washington as a disaster operations specialist for the Office of United States Foreign Disaster Assistance at the United States Agency for International Development. She graduated from Fordham and received a master’s in international relations from Johns Hopkins.
She is the daughter of Kitty J. V. Shea of Silver Spring, Md., and the late James W. Shea. The bride’s father was deputy director of the Office of International Relations at the Labor Department in Washington. Her mother retired as an executive assistant in the Washington branch of the United Nations’ International Labor Organization.
Mr. Liddle, 40, is a foreign service officer for the State Department. This month, he completed an assignment at the United States embassy in Juba, South Sudan, where he headed the political section and advised the embassy on political matters as they related to the South Sudanese government.
In January, the groom is to begin work at the United States embassy in Kinshasa, the Democratic Republic of Congo, where he will serve as a political officer watching and reporting on issues in eastern Congo. He graduated from Bucknell.
He is a son of Kristin VanDerveer Liddle and James T. Liddle Jr. of Ardsley-on-Hudson, N.Y. The groom’s father, now retired, worked in New York as an actuary for Equitable Life, a unit of AXA, the French insurance company.
