It's a consumption tax. It's no different from the Tennessee and Florida tax frameworks. Or any other state that has abolished the income tax. You don't HAVE to pay it. You CHOOSE to by buying shit. The more shit you consume, the more taxes you pay. It doesn't punish those who make tons of money and live frugally, beneath their means, like my dad did, and he died a multi-millionaire.

What I'd LOVE to see is abolishing property taxes. Sick of hearing "home ownership" when you get booted off your land if you don't pay the government. It's a fucking lifetime lease.

VATs tax at each value adding step of the process. Whenever "value" is added to the object. Car frame, OK, what adds value to that? Drivetrain? Tax it. Air conditioner? Tax it.

That's on the taxing entities to figure out how to tax online purchases. Illinois was self-reporting for a long time for use tax. Calculating it is just a pain, especially since I buy my cars from a dealer in Iowa so have to pay the sales tax difference to Illinois. And if you didn't save receipts, an estimation. As a CPA, I prep a lot of 1040s and let's just say the compliance rate is VERY low. Amount of people who come into my office and say "I didn't buy anything online in 2018" is probably like 80% which is…they're lying. Many are.

Municipalities don't have taxing power over interstate commerce. Only the states and feds. That's why we keep getting ass fucked on property taxes in states like Wisconsin, Illinois, Texas. They can't tax anything other than sales (in store purchases) and property.

I don't see any "there, there." Tweet directly refs "… boom operators…." refers to the refueling boom on a KC-135R/KC-10/KC-130/etc. They're training to maneuver one of those into position and keep it there with another aircraft in flight. It isn't an easy maneuver by any means.

A tweet referring to boom operators on refuelers is very likely just a tweet referring to boom operators as I strongly believe they're trying to recruit by showing "here's what you'll be doing."

Military is having a nightmare meeting its recruiting quotas. USAF upped its age limit for enlistment to 39. They're trying to recruit. Army, Navy, USMC, USAF, USCG, all of the branches can't get enough people who aren't fat fucking slobs and can pass a physical, do ONE pushup.
