Why is blackface such a taboo?

Isn't it the context of the performance what a cultural critic needs to consider? We can't just 'throw away' the work of any actor who made a choice that is later seen as culturally retrograde. We must take that decision for that choice in make up or garb to be in the context of the performance or piece of art.

After 35 years why should a photo from a theatrical event at a college by a youngster still matter, no matter what the garb? Do we, or do we not, believe that people grow and learn. Why do they need to be thrown away for their mistakes?

totally destroyed, and knocked out of the game? And it's always the blackmailers and shame mongers of politics who succeed by doing this to other people. The result we get a prostitute who was a dominatrix as a senator, after she roused through the ranks like a feral Hogg in heat.

And the favorite call girls of ex athlete-politicians ends up being candidates in the democrat primary ballots for president.

my post was not about what you said, but just general observations. concise: a single photo in blackface from 35 years ago ought to not be the sole reason someone is 'knocked out' of politics. I never said I thought I knew what you wanted to do. I did not comment on your ideas.

sorry I got you so riled up.
