I did notice that he went for the water (remember "watch the water"?) at what seemed to be strategic times and was very careful how he handled the bottles and how he replaced them on the table. Carefully arranging them as he put the bottles back down. Something was intentionally happening with all that. Didn't count number of sips though.

Had a girlfriend back then that had one of their albums entitles "meat is murder". She kept playing a really sappy song from it. Decided back then the band was gay and probably vegans. Just looked up the song, it was called "how soon is now". Some interesting effects for the time but pretty soy-ish.

Childrens' books in the 60s:

  • Black Sambo (my fave at age 5)

  • Curious George (my kindergarten teacher said George was a negro and the Man in the White Hat his owner).

Kids rhyme (there are many more):

3, 6, 9, the goose drank wine, the nigger chewed tobacco on the streetcar line….

And then the TV show characters - I think everyone did a blackface at some point in the 70s and before.

Good catch! Followed the Baltic Dry Index for years and long ago felt there was fuckery in the data. Times when it should have been rising it was falling or stable. The reverse happened as well.

They're not a cash-and-go thing, meaning one doesn't hail a huge container ship like a taxi/uber. Arranged well in advance, so lower prices means EITHER less to be shipped, or, more ships than demand.

There was a HUGE increase in production of these ships a few years ago - huge. Could simply be that they're all built and now there's a glut of ships.
