Ontario police find meth smuggled into Canada through new Ford cars built in Mexico

A notorious Mexican cartel stashed bricks of methamphetamine in the spare tires of new cars before sending the vehicles to Canada by rail in a sprawling drug smuggling operation, authorities alleged Wednesday.

Ontario Provincial Police said they found 180 kilograms of meth during their investigation, which began when employees at four different Ford dealerships reported suspicious bags inside tires that were in the trunks of new Fusion cars.

Police said the cars were built at Ford’s assembly plant in Hermosillo, Mexico, before being put on northbound trains.

“The powerful Sinaloa cartel is well entrenched in that area of Mexico,” said OPP Supt. Bryan MacKillop. “We are very certain that they are ultimately responsible for these drugs.”

He said authorities first became aware of the drugs in December when Ford dealership employees in four Ontario communities — Chelmsford, Collingwood, Bolton and Newmarket — called police about the beige-taped packages that lined the tires.

The investigation, dubbed Project Sebright, ballooned to involve the Canada Border Services Agency, Greater Sudbury Police, police in New Brunswick, Quebec provincial police and Ford.

Police said nine of 14 vehicles from the same shipment, found at 13 different Ontario dealerships, contained meth.

Other cars that were part of the same shipment made their way to Quebec and New Brunswick, MacKillop said.

“We were able to proactively stop a similar subsequent shipment of cars as it crossed the border into Canada,” he said. In that case, police found meth hidden in a similar fashion in 12 of 14 vehicles they searched.

Authorities have continued to search vehicles coming into the country from Mexico, but have yet to find more drugs, MacKillop said.

“That tells us that this method of smuggling has been successfully disrupted,” he said.

Police said they haven’t laid charges and are still investigating. MacKillop said investigators believe the “logistics” of the alleged smuggling operation failed, which led to the drugs continuing on to dealerships.

“I don’t think that’s what they wanted,” MacKillop said.

He also said police don’t know when or where the cars were “exploited,” other than saying those responsible were the Sinaloa cartel, which was once led by drug lord Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzman, who was found guilty recently of drug trafficking and murder conspiracy charges in New York.

Police noted the “creative means” to smuggle drugs into the country.

US awards Lockheed Martin $1bn contract for Saudi missile sale

Payment comes as members of Congress look to punish Saudi Arabia for its role in the war in Yemen and Khashoggi murder.

The US government said it has awarded arms manufacturer Lockheed Martin a $946m payment on behalf of Saudi Arabia for an advanced missile defence system.

The contract, announced by the Pentagon in a statement on Monday, is the first instalment of what is expected to be a $15bn deal.

In November, Saudi and US officials signed the letters of offer and acceptance formalising terms for the kingdom's purchase of 44 Terminal High Altitude Area Defence (THAAD) launchers, missiles and related equipment.

As a part of the scope of work outlined by the Pentagon, obsolete systems currently in place will be updated to prepare the current Saudi missile defence infrastructure for the new THAAD technology.

The contract also allows Lockheed Martin to pay for materials, tooling and engineering development, among other work.

The Pentagon said the partial payment that would go to Lockheed Martin and prevent major delays in the production of the new missile defence system in Saudi Arabia. The payment comes as Saudi Arabia faces increasing international pressure in the wake of the murder of journalist Jamal Khashoggi.

The Washington Post columnist was killed at the kingdom's consulate in Istanbul in October last year by a Saudi hit squad, which Riyadh said was rogue but which leaked Western intelligence assessments have reportedly concluded was ordered by Mohammed bin Salman, Saudi Arabia's powerful crown prince.

A number of US politicians from both the Republican and Democratic parties have called for punitive action against the Saudis for the journalist's death and for its role in the ongoing war in neighbouring Yemen.

Senior Republicans, including Senator Lindsey Graham, have called for sanctions against Riyadh, but such calls are in contrast to the statements and actions of US President Donald Trump.

76K Migrants Entered Through Southwest Border in February — Most in 12 Years, Says CBP

U.S. Customs and Border Patrol (CBP) reports that 76,103 migrants appeared at ports of entry and illegally crossed between ports in February. This is the largest number of apprehensions and inadmissible migrants for a February reporting period in 12 years, CBP stated Tuesday.

Of the 76,103 migrants who came to the border seeking admission or illegally crossing between ports of entry, 62 percent were family units and unaccompanied minors. This presents both a border security and humanitarian crisis at our southwest border, U.S. Customs and Border Protection Commissioner Kevin K. McAleenan said in a press conference on Tuesday afternoon.

United States Border Patrol Chief of Operations Brian Hastings told reporters that during the 28 days of February, Border Patrol agents apprehended more than 66,000 migrants who illegally crossed the border from Mexico between ports of entry. This is up from nearly 48,000 in January — a nearly 40 percent increase. When compared to the first five months of Fiscal Year 2018, this fiscal year has seen a 97 percent increase, he stated.

“A lot of folks look at that and they say, ‘we have seen numbers like that in the past,” Hastings explained. He said that many people do not understand the “significant change in the demographics of what we are seeing today is what presents us and our partners with a lot of challenges.”

The Border Patrol operations chief said that historically, agents have apprehended about 70 to 90 percent Mexican nationals. “We could apply a consequence to that demographic,” he stated. “We could return them quickly to Mexico.”

Labour MP Siobhain Mcdonagh: “to be anti-capitalism is to be anti-semitic”

In an interview on BBC Radio 4 this morning, Labour MP for Mitcham and Morden, Siobhain McDonagh, made the link between anti-capitalists and anti-semitism. When asked if the Labour party are taking anti-semitism seriously, she replied:

“I’m not sure that some people in the labour party can, because it’s very much part of their politics – of hard left politics – to be against capitalisTS, and to see jewish people as the finANCERS OF CAPITAL”

She was then asked: “In other words, to be anti-capitalist you have to be anti-semitic?”

She replied (but clearly then starts to backtrack):

“Yes. not everybody but absolutely, there’s a certain strand of it and these people are not labour, have never been labour but we now find them in our party”

John Humphrey then asked: “Don’t they become Labour when they join the party?”

Her reply:

“Not as far as I see it. i believe that the labour party has a very strong set of values related to how we see society should be run and about being anti-racist, which they cannot be part of”

McDonagh then mentioned Formby refusing to release the figures of anti-semitic incidents (which she already had done some time ago), and then went on to criticise her for saying she answers to the NEC, not Labour MPs. She then praised Tom Watson for wanting to intervene with cases, despite Watson’s actions being incompatible with GDPR laws.

It is clearly very problematic and actually borders upon anti-semitism in itself to immediately make the association between Jewish people and banking/financing – repeating an anti-semitic trope on national radio is appalling.

It’s Not ‘Identity Politics,’ It’s Anti-White Politics

Every time a manifestly racist, anti-white event goes down, which is frequently, conservative media call it “identity politics.” “The left is playing identity politics.”

Whatever is convulsing the country; it’s not identity politics. For, blacks are not being pitted against Hispanics. Hispanics are not being sicced on Asians, and Ameri-Indians aren’t being urged to attack the groups just mentioned. Rather, they’re all piling on honky. Hence, anti-white politics or animus.

The ire of the multicultural multitudes is directed exclusively at whites and their putative privilege. Anti-whitism is becoming endemic and systemic.

Take “Empire” actor Jussie Smollett. Smollett deceived the country and the Chicago Police Department about having fallen prey to a hate crime, which, it transpired, he had allegedly crudely orchestrated.

The Chicago Police Department superintendent expressed the requisite righteous indignation that a black man (Smollett) would desecrate symbols of black oppression in the process of framing innocent Others. (A noose had been purchased at Smollett’s behest.)

Nobody, Superintendent Eddie Johnson included, said sorry to the accused group, whose reputation had been sullied: “Trump supporters or white persons.”

Corbyn renews calls to end UK arms sales to Israel in wake of UN report on Gaza protests

UK Labour Party leader Jeremy Corbyn has renewed his calls for Britain to cease arms sales to Israel following a UN report last week that the Israeli army’s actions against Palestinian protesters in Gaza’s Great March of Return could amount to war crimes.

“The UK government must unequivocally condemn the killings and freeze arms sales to Israel,” Corbyn tweeted on Friday, linking the report.

The Labour Party approved a motion during a conference last September that called for the same embargo on arms sales to Israel.

During the conference, Corbyn, who has sustained years of attacks and accusations of anti-Semitism for his support of Palestinian rights, slammed US policies in the region and said that Palestinians can’t be “left alone in the darkness.”

Last week’s report by the UN Commission of Inquiry highlighted the killings of at least 189 Palestinians — though local estimates report much higher numbers — and the thousands of demonstrators who were maimed by Israeli snipers along the border since the Great March of Return started almost one year ago.

The commission criticized Israeli security forces’ rules of engagement in Gaza, saying that the majority of protesters killed “did not pose an immediate threat of death or serious injury to others when they were shot.”

“Less lethal alternatives remained available and substantial defenses were in place, rendering the use of lethal force neither necessary nor proportionate, and therefore impermissible,” the commission said.

Despite Israeli claims that Hamas has used the protests as cover to “infiltrate” Israeli territory and carry out attacks, there have been little to no reports of Palestinians breaking through the border fence during protests or carrying out physical attacks against Israelis.

Additionally, the UN commission that conducted the study, which included over 300 interviews with victims, witnesses, and officials from the Israeli and Palestinians sides, found that as of the end of 2018, only 29 of the dead “could be clearly identified as members of Palestinian armed factions.”

The report estimated that as many as 23,000 Palestinians were injured by Israeli army fire, including hundreds who lost limbs as a result.

In accordance with dozens of similar reports from local and international rights groups, the commission said that Israeli snipers along the border intentionally shot at journalists and health workers despite their being clearly marked.

The report went on to say that due to the possibility of war crimes committed, Israeli security forces should be held “individually and collectively accountable” for the deaths and injuries of the protesters.

Israeli and US officials widely condemned the report, citing “anti-Israel bias” in the UN.

Government Research Confirms Measles Outbreaks are Transmitted by the Vaccinated

The level of hysteria surrounding measles is rising fast, although there has only been 159 cases in North America this season. People are freaking out and blaming the unvaccinated for this ‘outbreak.’ Vaccine advocates are demanding that anti-vaccine voices are scrubbed from public view. Facebook is working to ban all informed vaccine content from the site. Lawmakers are proposing a flurry of legislation aimed at severely punishing families that prefer not to vaccinate, even looking to remove vaccine exemptions at the federal level.

Measles is a terrible disease, and no child should have to suffer, and while generations before us survived the disease, we have entered an era where the individual is pressed more and more to conform in every way to the demands of the hive. But is all the hype and panic aimed at the anti-vaccine community really justified? Are unvaccinated kids really the problem?

A government study actually belies this narrative, pointing out that the measles is actually transmitted by the vaccinated. Sayer Ji from Green Med Info discussed this in detail in a 2016 article:

Last year, a groundbreaking study published in the journal Clinical Infectious Diseases, whose authorship includes scientists working for the Bureau of Immunization, New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene, and the National Center for Immunization and Respiratory Diseases, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Atlanta, GA, looked at evidence from the 2011 New York measles outbreak that individuals with prior evidence of measles vaccination and vaccine immunity were both capable of being infected with measles and infecting others with it (secondary transmission).

This finding even aroused the attention of mainstream news reporting, such as this Sciencemag.org article from April 2014 titled “Measles Outbreak Traced to Fully Vaccinated Patient for First Time.”

Titled, “Outbreak of Measles Among Persons With Prior Evidence of Immunity, New York City, 2011,” the groundbreaking study acknowledged that, “Measles may occur in vaccinated individuals, but secondary transmission from such individuals has not been documented.”

In order to find out if measles vaccine compliant individuals are capable of being infected andtransmitting the infection to others, they evaluated suspected cases and contacts exposed during a 2011 measles outbreak in NYC. They focused on one patient who had received two doses of measles-containing vaccine and found that,

“Of 88 contacts, four secondary cases were confirmed that had either two doses of measles-containing vaccine or a past positive measles IgG antibody. All cases had laboratory confirmation of measles infection, clinical symptoms consistent with measles, and high avidity IgG antibody characteristic of a secondary immune response.”

Israel Is an Extremist Enterprise

Benjamin Netanyahu’s pact with a far-right, anti-Arab party ahead of April’s elections is repugnant. But it’s in keeping with a state that has racism and exclusion baked into its foundation.

In preparation for April elections, Israeli prime minister and right-wing icon Benjamin Netanyahu has sought to increase his chances of forming a majority government by finagling a merger of extremist party Otzma Yehudit — Jewish Power — with Jewish Home, another far-right party whose ideology is more palatable to mainstream opinion.

Otzma Yehudit subscribes to the worldview of Meir Kahane, the New York-born rabbi — assassinated in 1990 — whose movement was banned from Israeli politics in the 1980s and classified as a terrorist group in the United States. Among the many charming ideas inherited from Kahane are that the occupied Palestinian territories should be annexed to Israel and Palestinians should be expelled.

The New York Times notes that Netanyahu has “enraged Jewish leaders in Israel and the United States by striking a bargain with a racist anti-Arab party whose ideology was likened by one influential rabbi to Nazism.” And it’s not just the usual liberal Zionists wringing their hands at the perceived sullying of Israel’s image.

AIPAC — pillar of the Israel lobby in the United States — retweeted a condemnation of Otzma Yehudit by the American Jewish Committee, seconding the conviction that the party is “racist and reprehensible.” (This didn’t stop AIPAC from tweeting the very next day that it was “honored to announce” Netanyahu’s impending attendance as a speaker at its 2019 policy conference.) Jonathan Greenblatt, CEO of the Zionist Anti-Defamation League (ADL), also took to Twitter to lament that the Otzma Yehudit leaders and their “hate-filled rhetoric” were “being legitimized” by the Jewish Home-Jewish Power union: “There should be no room for racism & no accommodation for intolerance in Israel or any democracy.”But while the ostensibly antiracist uproar no doubt comes off as noble, the fact is that Israel is fundamentally a racist and anti-Arab state that has carried out an uninterrupted flow of reprehensible behavior.

Where, pray tell, are all of the concerned curators of Brand Israel when the country opts to undertake one of its regular bouts of slaughter in the Gaza Strip? Where are the paeans to tolerance and democracy when Israeli Arabs are deemed second-class citizens and non-Israeli ones are treated as either terrorists or collateral damage?

Over at Bloomberg, neocon Eli Lake moans that Jewish Power “embraces [Kahane’s] policy of ethnic cleansing” and that “one of its leaders holds a party every year at the grave of the Jewish terrorist Baruch Goldstein, who murdered 29 Palestinian civilians in 1994.” But as Israeli historian Ilan Pappé demonstrates in The Ethnic Cleansing of Palestine, that particular “policy” is Israel’s MO. And while the Goldstein massacre certainly qualifies as terrorism, it would seem that plenty of other episodes in recent Israeli history do, too — like the 2014 Israeli military murder of 2,251 Palestinians in Gaza, including 229 women and 551 children.

Israel sets Gaza up for superbug epidemic

The Bureau of Investigative Journalism recently ran a report titled “Unseen enemy: Doctors in Gaza battling superbug epidemic”.

Given the regular atrocities to which the Gaza Strip is subjected by a very visible enemy – the state of Israel – the last thing that’s needed is an unseen one, to boot.

In the past five years alone, Israel’s activities vis-a-vis the Palestinian territory have included a 50-day assault in 2014 that killed some 2,251 Palestinians – most of them civilians, and more than 550 of them children – along with repeated attacks on peaceful Palestinian protesters in the context of the Great March of Return, which saw more than 60 Palestinians killed on a single day last May.

Fertile breeding ground

According to a December report from the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs, more than 25,000 people in Gaza were injured by Israeli forces in 2018.

And as it turns out, Gaza’s visible enemy is primarily to thank for the emergence of the invisible one: the superbug – defined in the Oxford dictionary as a “strain of bacteria that has become resistant to antibiotic drugs”.

The Bureau of Investigative Journalism notes that Gaza is a “particularly fertile breeding ground for superbugs because its health system has been crippled by years of blockade and antibiotics are in short supply… Shortages of water, power and fuel for generators mean doctors often cannot meet even basic hygiene standards.”

Citing medical professionals, the report goes on to specify that “staff sometimes can’t even wash their hands… and there are shortages of gloves, gowns and chlorine tablets for sanitising the hospitals”. Indeed, the Israeli blockade, imposed in 2007, has brought Gaza’s healthcare system to the brink of collapse.

B’Tselem, the Israeli Information Centre for Human Rights in the Occupied Territories, details some of the numerous impediments to healthcare in the besieged coastal enclave, such as Israeli restrictions that “apply to replacing broken equipment, importing advanced medical equipment and drugs, [and] travel by physicians for professional training outside Gaza”.
