n Huge Blow to Mueller, Judge T.S. Ellis Wants Manafort to be Given Credit For Time Served

On Thursday evening, Judge T.S. Ellis rejected Mueller’s “excessive” recommendation that Paul Manafort serve 19.5 to 24.5 years in prison after a Virginia jury convicted Manafort on 8 counts of bank and tax fraud.

The Reagan-appointed judge sentenced Manafort to 47 months in prison.

In another blow to Mueller, Judge T.S. Ellis also wants Paul Manafort to be given credit for the 9 months he has already served in jail.

If this happens, Manafort will only have to serve 38 months (just over 3 years) in jail.

“Judge wants Paul Manafort to be given credit for the nine months he’s spent in jail, after a different judge revoked his bond last June. If that happens, Manafort’s time in prison from now on would total a little more than three years,” crime reporter Shimon Prokupecz tweeted on Thursday evening.

Paul Manafort was seated in a wheelchair and green prison jumpsuit during Thursday’s hearing and pleaded with the judge to have some compassion, reported CNBC.

“The last two years have been the most difficult for my family and I,” Manafort said in his plea.

“To say I have been humiliated and ashamed would be a gross understatement,” he said.

Judge Ellis rejected Mueller’s “excessive” recommendation and gave Manafort a much lighter sentence.

Manafort faces sentencing in a separate case in a DC court next week.

A couple weeks ago, Mueller released his redacted sentencing memo on Paul Manafort in the Washington D.C. case where Manafort was on trial for his Ukrainian lobbying.

Mueller accused Manafort of “repeatedly and brazenly” breaking the law — recall, Mueller gave Tony Podesta immunity in this case even though just like Manafort, he failed to file a FARA form in a timely manner.

Corrupt Obama-appointed Judge Amy Berman Jackson is assigned to Paul Manafort’s DC case where he was charged with two felony counts and will be sentenced next week by Jackson.

Mueller did not disclose how many years he recommended Manafort serve in the DC case, however, under the law Manafort faces 10 years maximum prison time for two felony counts.

President Trump should take a blowtorch to Mueller and pardon Manafort after his second round of sentencing next week.

Correction: Judge T.S. Ellis was appointed by Ronald Reagan, not Donald Trump.

World Jewish Congress: Democrats Watered Down Resolution on Antisemitism

World Jewish Congress president Ronald S. Lauder criticized the U.S. House of Representatives for “watering down” a resolution on antisemitism Thursday that House Democrats broadened to include a variety of other groups.

The resolution, which passed 407-23, was prompted by the recent antisemitic remarks of Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN). However, Democratic Party leaders ensured that the resolution did not actually mention Omar, and did not focus on antisemitism, but also included a variety of other groups that have been targets of discrimination in other contexts.

In a statement released Thursday, Lauder said: “The unfortunate decision by the US House leadership to dilute a forthright condemnation of antisemitism is both irresponsible and dangerous.”

Laude’s statement continued:

“The House of Representatives failed to explicitly condemn antisemitism as a unique and targeted form of hatred, and to recognize that any inflammatory rhetoric that utilizes antisemitic tropes to criticize the State of Israel and fan the flames of hatred against Jews is unacceptable across the board and must be met with zero tolerance and immediate condemnation.”

“Instead, the House has regrettably chosen to water down the resolution, thus sanctioning Representative Ilhan Omar’s remarks, which put the loyalty of American Jewry into question. All forms of bigotry and xenophobia, including Islamophobia, should be condemned, but we must not forget the specific nature of antisemitism within the current climate of anti-Zionism and rising attacks against Jews,” Lauder said.

“The fabric of American society lies in its democracy, and we should be celebrating, not condemning, the support that the United States has for its great ally, the State of Israel, its sister democracy in the Middle East,” Lauder said.

“Congress plays a crucial role in combating antisemitism. Congress should not be a place that gives antisemitism a voice in this country and it must voice its clear opposition to this age-old hatred strongly and unequivocally. The world looks to the United States for leadership in this fight and the United States must not fail to live up to its leadership role,” Mr. Lauder said. “Unequivocally rejecting antisemitism is part of the values that America has alw

Most of Venezuela Hit By Power Outage - Reports

Power outage was registered in 21 out of 23 states of Venezuela, local media have reported amid "sabotage" at the major hydroelectric power plant Guri, reported by the National Electric Power Corporation.

The corporation made its statement on Thursday, saying it was working to restore power supply.

"Guri has faced sabotage … It is a part of an electric war against the state. We will not allow this! We are working to restore power supply," the corporation wrote on Twitter on Thursday.

The Nacional newspaper reported on Thursday that the country’s capital of Caracas had also faced a blackout.

A Sputnik correspondent reported on Thursday that in Caracas, metro lines had been shut down. Moreover, local residents experienced mobile service outage.

Since January, Venezuela has been facing protests against President Nicolas Maduro.

On January 5, lawmaker Juan Guaido was elected the head of the opposition-controlled National Assembly, which all other government branches have been refusing to recognize since 2016.

On January 23, two days after the Venezuelan Supreme Court annulled his election, Guaido declared himself the country's "interim president." Maduro, who was sworn in for his second presidential term on January 10 after winning the May election, which part of the opposition boycotted, qualified Guaido's move as an attempt to stage a coup orchestrated by Washington.

The United States immediately recognized Guaido, after which some 50 other countries, including Colombia, followed suit. Russia, China, Cuba, Bolivia and a number of other states have, in the meantime, voiced their support for the legitimate government of Maduro. Mexico and Uruguay have refused to recognize Guaido, declaring themselves neutral and promoting crisis settlement via dialogue.
