Been looking at some of Alan Kruger's papers and studies… So far I don't believe the guy was a political hack and seemed to be a real data driven researcher who was interested in real world topics. Most high profile economists do NOT fall into this category.

While most people believe that having more income would make them happier, Princeton University researchers have found that the link is greatly exaggerated and mostly an illusion.

“The belief that high income is associated with good mood is widespread but mostly illusory,” the researchers wrote. “People with above-average income are relatively satisfied with their lives but are barely happier than others in moment-to-moment experience, tend to be more tense, and do not spend more time in particularly enjoyable activities.”

Zero Hedge even refers to his work, even agreeing with his research, which points out the flimsy economic recovery of the Obama years.

And Zerohedge doesn't usually like anybody.

Harvard and Princeton economists Lawrence Katz and Alan Krueger, confirms exactly what we warned. In their study, the duo show that from 2005 to 2015, the proportion of Americans workers engaged in what they refer to as “alternative work” soared during the Obama era, from 10.7% in 2005 to 15.8% in 2015. Alternative, or "gig" work is defined as "temporary help agency workers, on-call workers, contract company workers, independent contractors or freelancers", and is generally unsteady, without a fixed paycheck and with virtually no benefits.

The two economists also found that each of the common types of alternative work increased from 2005 to 2015—with the largest changes in the number of independent contractors and workers provided by contract firms, such as janitors that work full-time at a particular office, but are paid by a janitorial services firm.

I'm not analyzing economic theories or flaws in how statistics are use in government reports.

I'm trying to understand why this guy reportedly killed himself. His work will reflect his character.

To illustrate what I mean, compare him with Paul Krugman was also on the faculty at Princeton. He won a Nobel Prize in economics.

Just like Obama won the Peace Prize.
