NZ is the beginning of the social credit system outside of China. Western governments can not be overt about this so they will begin to pass laws that they KNOW the citizenry will not put up with. The gun confiscation in NZ is not about enforcement. It is about creating a BS criminal record for anyone that opposes its government. If any of these individuals become an issue to the power structure then the government will use gun ownership among other BS illegalities that will pass to immediately charge and arrest the individual. THIS IS ABOUT MORE THAN DISARMING. They want to criminalize those who seek liberty so they never run into situations where they have no legal justification to go after patriots.
