G1 and G2 Geomagnetic Storm this weekend.

A new sunspot group numbered 2736 formed rapidly in the northwest quadrant during the past 24 hours and is now producing minor B-Class and C-Class solar flares. The largest thus far was a C4.8 flare at 11:18 UTC (Mar 20). A coronal mass ejection (CME) was associated with the event and may have a weak Earth directed component. More to follow once a proper CME tracking model becomes available. Additional flares of the minor variety, with a small chance for a moderate M-Flare will be possible during the next day or so.

Update: A moderate (G2) geomagnetic storm watch will be in effect beginning Saturday when a coronal mass ejection (CME) observed on Wednesday is expected to possibly sweep past Earth. Should this take place, visible aurora will be likely this weekend at middle to high latitudes. The plasma cloud was the result of a C4.8 x-ray event earlier today. More updates to follow this weekend..
