Absolutely anon. Them letting Smollet off is probably a Very Good Thing. You need to catch small fish to catch bigger fish and so on and so on. At the end of it Smollet will do time and they will have netted an up and coming DS asset, unseated a bunch of incumbents and possibly painted a giant arrow right to the top, and beyond.
Whichever way it goes, at the end of the day Smollet will still look like a dick and will be the subject of memes for years to come.
