Lauren Salzman Pleads Guilty – to one count each of Racketeering and Racketeering Conspiracy

Following in the footsteps of her mother, Lauren Salzman has decided to plead guilty rather than go to trial in the case of the U.S. v. Raniere Et Al.to one count each of Racketeering and Racketeering Conspiracy.

Lauren’s plea was done “under seal” in order to keep the details from becoming known by other defendants in the case, some of whom are also engaged in plea deal negotiations.

But the Scheduling Order for her sentencing – which will take place on September 11th – was just posted on PACER.

It was only a few weeks ago that Lauren’s mother, Nancy, pleaded guilty to one count of Racketeering Conspiracy. Although whatever sentence Nancy receives will be solely determined by U.S. District Court Judge Nicholas G. Garaufis, the Federal Sentencing Guidelines call for a sentence in the range of 33-41 months.

Based on the second superseding indictment in the case, Lauren was facing the following charges:

Brunei Bans Buggery; Gays To Be Stoned To Death Under Sharia Law

Brunei will begin stoning gays and adulterers to death starting next week, after the tiny nation on the island of Borneo converted to sharia law in 2014.

While the new laws were announced five years ago and gradually phased in by the country's sultan, Hassanal Bolkiah - who is also the prime minister, the death penalty for homsexual sex and adultery will begin on April 3, according to CNN. Brunei's roughly 450,000 residents were notified of the April 3 start date after the country's attorney general posted a December 29 notification on his website.

Human rights groups are horrified.

"Brunei must immediately halt its plans to implement these vicious punishments, and revise its Penal Code in compliance with its human rights obligations. The international community must urgently condemn Brunei's move to put these cruel penalties into practice," said Amnesty International Brunei specialist Rachel Chhoa-Howard in a statement.

Brunei became the first country in the region to adopt sharia law, and Islamic legal system known for its strict corporal punishments.

British Troops Are Active in Combat in Yemen

Parliament demands answers after years of denying involvement

Throughout the past four years, all questions about British military involvement were answered the same way, with claims from the government that there was absolutely no role in the Yemeni conflict.

That position collapsed suddenly over the weekend, when media reports revealed that five British special forces operatives were injured in combat in Yemen, supporting the Saudi invasion. The troops were from Special Boat Service.

This not only revealed that British troops were in fact involved in Yemen, but perhaps more importantly that the government had been lying about it. Now parliament, particularly the opposition, is demanding to know specifics.

This has meant a subtle official shift from “we are not party to the conflict” to them no longer denying that troops are present. Since it’s been established troops are present, and involved in combat, that’s not much of a concession, and parliament is going to be pushing hard to get the truth about involvement in a hugely unpopular war.

Lawsuit Seeks Documents Potentially Showing FBI Ignored Intelligence Community IG Evidence That Chinese Hacked Clinton’s Server

A congressman described a meeting in which Intelligence Community Inspector General (ICIG) officials informed FBI agent Peter Strzok they had discovered Hillary Clinton’s private email server was hacked by a foreign power.

Strzok acknowledged meeting with the investigators but claimed he didn’t recall what they told him. The FBI said it had no evidence of such a breach, but has not explained what, if anything, it did to look for one based on the ICIG’s lead.

Judicial Watch is suing to force the government to produce records showing what the ICIG found.

Sources said the ICIG had detailed knowledge of a China-affiliated group hacking Clinton’s server.

The watchdog group Judicial Watch is suing the Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI) to produce records detailing the FBI response to warnings that then-Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s email server had been compromised by a foreign power.

The Intelligence Community Inspector General (ICIG) found that Clinton’s server was compromised with malware that caused every one of Clinton’s emails to be copied to a foreign entity, according to a congressman on the House Judiciary Committee.

In July 2018, during the committee’s questioning of Strzok, Republican Texas Rep. Louie Gohmert described a meeting in which named members of the ICIG staff met with Strzok. He said they informed Stzrok of “an anomaly they had found on Hillary Clinton’s emails that were going to the private unauthorized server that you were supposed to be investigating.”

“It was going to an unauthorized source that was a foreign entity unrelated to Russia,” Gohmert said.

Michelle Obama's Ex-Chief Of Staff Admits She Did Try To Intervene In Smollett Investigation

After evidence came to light that the former chief of staff of Michelle Obama had attempted to intervene on behalf of the Smollett family to get the investigation turned over to the FBI, the ex-aid, prominent Chicago attorney Tina Tchen, has now gone on the record to confirm that she did contact the state's attorney whose office eventually let Smollett off the hook.

In a statement to USA Today on Wednesday, Tchen addressed reports that she had emailed Cook County State's Attorney Kim Foxx to request on behalf of the Smolletts that the investigation be taken out of the hands of the Chicago Police Department, which would eventually conclude that Smollett had orchestrated an alleged "hoax" hate crime against himself.

"I know members of the Smollett family based on prior work together," Tchen said in the statement Wednesday. "Shortly after Mr. Smollett reported he was attacked, as a family friend, I contacted Cook County State’s Attorney Kim Foxx, who I also know from prior work together. My sole activity was to put the chief prosecutor in the case in touch with an alleged victim’s family who had concerns about how the investigation was being characterized in public."

After Tchen contacted Foxx to voice the Smollett family's "concerns" about how the Chicago police were handling the case, Foxx replied in a February 1 email: "Spoke to the Superintendent [Eddie] Johnson. I convinced him to reach out to FBI to ask that they take over the investigation."

"Spoke to the superintendent earlier, he made the ask," Foxx told a Smollett family member whose name was redacted from released court documents. "Trying to figure out logistics. I’ll keep you posted."

"Omg this would be a huge victory," the relative replied.

"I make no guarantees, but I’m trying," responded Foxx.

Foxx later told the Chicago Sun-Times that the Smollett family was concerned about leaks to the media and believed the FBI would keep a "tighter lid on the information."

Though Foxx said she recused herself from the case because of her contact with Tchen and the Smollett family, it was revealed this week that she did not in fact do so. As the Daily Wire's Emily Zanotti reported, Foxx was forced to admit an "egregious error" late Wednesday, "after National District Attorney's Association issued a scathing letter rebuking Foxx's office for their conduct during the Smollett affair":
