At last check, China controls 98% and we have no active mines. Real dangerous.

The situation is exactly parallel with Rare Earth metals (critical for electronics). Research it.

If China cut us off, we would be hurting. Hopefully there are some strategic reserves.

There is one mine in California I say they were trying to reactivate, but it's California and they are resisting the effort of course.

It's called the Mountain Pass mine.

I may have had old info regarding CA's resistance, but bottom line is that it has still not reopened despite efforts.

Looks like China is mucking up the process, but hard to tell what is really happening.
