Dar al-Hijrah to Host Pro-Brotherhood Egyptian Imam

The Dar al-Hijrah Islamic Center in Falls Church, Va. will host an imam Monday who is accused of supporting the Muslim Brotherhood and terrorist groups.

In 2015, Egypt's Minister of Religious Endowments banned Sheikh Mohammad Jebril after Jebril gave a Ramadan prayer asking Allah to "punish those who have shed our blood and orphaned our children." He also prayed that manipulative members of the media and corrupt politicians would be punished. Jebril led Ramadan prayers in Cairo's oldest mosque, the 7th century Amr Bin al-Aas Mosque, since 1988.

Religious Endowments Minister Mohammed Mukhtar Jumaa also barred Jebril from leaving Egypt at the time and asked Egypt's television stations to keep him off the air.

A subsequent investigation connected some of Jebril's assets to terrorist acts allegedly tied to the Muslim Brotherhood. Other money allegedly supported imprisoned Brotherhood members' families.

Dar al-Hijrah promoted Monday's event by describing Jebril as "one of the world's most prominent reciters of the Quran."

Dar al-Hijrah has a history of supporting Brotherhood causes. After the Egyptian military ousted President Mohamed Morsi – who led the Muslim Brotherhood's party – in July 2013, mosque members played a central role in creating Egyptian Americans for Democracy and Human Rights (EADHR). The group held rallies in New York, Washington and other U.S. cities demanding Morsi's reinstatement.

Chinese army arrives in Venezuela just days after the Russian miltary

BEIRUT, LEBANON (7:00 A.M) – A group of Chinese soldiers arrived in Venezuela on Sunday as part of a cooperation program between Beijing and Caracas.

According to reports, more than 120 soldiers from the Chinese People’s Liberation Army arrived at Venezuela’s Margarita Island to deliver humanitarian aid and military supplies to the government forces.

‘Bitch-fight’ between Juncker and Orbán: “Nationalism can lead to war”

Jean-Claude Juncker told Italy’s public tv channel RAI1 that he doesn’t care about the Hungarian government’s campaign against him, but he is bothered by Prime Minister Viktor Orban’s xenophobia, hostility towards foreigners.

Army destroys hideouts of Turkistani Party terrorists in Hama countryside

Hama, SANA – Syrian Arab Army units on Tuesday targeted terrorists’ positions in the northern countryside of Hama in retaliation for their breaches of the de-escalation zone agreement.

SANA’s reporter in Hama said army units carried out operations targeting hideouts and fortified positions of terrorists from the “Turkistani Party” at the outskirts of al-Ankawi and Shorlin towns in the province’s northern countryside.

The reporter said the operations inflicted losses in personnel and equipment upon the terrorists, destroying a number of their hideouts and fortified positions, in addition to some of their weapons and ammo.

Hungary slams global liberal fake news producers

Any politician “deviating from the Liberal mainstream”could become the target of attacks by “globally operating liberal fake news factories”, Hungary’s Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto told public Kossuth Radio.

Szijjarto mentioned US President Donald Trump for example, whose remarks on NATO the media “misinterpreted” and who was accused of benefitting from Russia’s alleged manipulating the US presidential election. That allegation “held out for two years” and “nobody has apologised for the fake news since it collapsed”, he said.

Those “patriots who dare to declare that their countries come first, for whom religious, national or cultural identities are important, who dare to protect the security of their citizens by building a wall, will face a campaign of defamation,” Szijjarto insisted.

The Hungarian government is facing a similar campaign, Szijjarto said, and added that “all attacks disguised by a veil of the rule of law” are “fake news” and added that all media outlets with the highest number of readers or viewers are “anti-government or critical of the government”.

Costco Drops Roundup Weedkiller After $80 Million Awarded In Second Cancer Case: Report

Costco has reportedly decided to stop selling Roundup weedkiller after a federal jury in San Francisco awarded more than $80 million to 70-year-old California man, Edwin Hardeman, who was diagnosed with cancer after spraying the herbicide on his property for decades.

According to the founder of Moms Across America, Zen Honeycutt, Costco will no longer carry Roundup or other glyphosate-based herbicides in their spring shipments.

Moms Across America founder Zen Honeycutt, whose petition calling for Costco to stop selling Roundup has more than 150,000 signatures on Change.org, wrote on her website:

"I called the headquarters, and after two days of messages and calls, I did finally confirm with three people that Costco was not ordering Roundup or any glyphosate-based herbicides for the incoming spring shipments."

Costco has yet to issue an official statement on the petition. However, in conversations with the administrative staff at various stores, Big Think has learned that the product was pulled off the floor this week per corporate orders — meaning, Costco's removal of Roundup applies to "all locations." -Big Think

Honeycutt's group is now petitioning Home Depot and Lowe's to pull Roundup from their shelves as well.

"We call on Home Depot and Lowe's today to step up as Costco has to protect us, your customers, and stop selling Roundup (and all glyphosate herbicides) now, due to its carcinogenic effects and lack of labeling," reads the petition. "Everyone deserves to know! These products should not be sold to the public!"

Bayer - which acquired the Roundup brand in its $63 billion purchase of Monsanto in June of last year, plans to appeal last week's verdict, and "vigorously defend" its product, according to Bloomberg. Since the transaction, Bayer has lost over 40% of its value according to Bloomberg.
