I was trying to work out in my mind, why POTUS said his father was born in Germany, when the official records say it was New York. I believe it's the 3rd time he has said words to that effect.

He could of course just be trolling the MSM or attracting attention to something/someone related to Germany.

Still though, Q post #2005 came to mind - "Has POTUS made a statement (since being elected) that didn't end up being proven FACTUALLY TRUE?"

Would he go against this 'rule' just for that?

I had a mini dig on the circumstances of the birth of Trump's father:

Officially as we know, Fred Trump was born in NY on October 11, 1905.

Summary from the Wikipedia page about his Grandfather Frederick Trump.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Frederick_Trump

  • 1885 - Emigrated to USA from Germany in (aged 16)

  • Spent time in NY as a Barber, then moved over to NW USA - involved in Gold Rush

  • 1901- Returned to Bavaria, Germany as a wealthy man

  • 1902 - Married Elisabeth Christ, a neighbor from his home village in Germany

  • 1902 - Moved back to NYC after wedding.

  • 1904 - First daughther born, wife has extreme homesickness

  • later 1904 - move back to Germany

  • After arrival in Germany - "Bavarian authorities determined that Trump had emigrated from Germany to avoid his military-service obligations, and he was classified as a draft dodger"

  • February 1905 - a royal decree was issued ordering Trump to leave within eight weeks due to having emigrated to evade military service and failing to register his departure with the authorities.

  • For several months, Trump petitioned the government to allow him to stay but he was unsuccessful.

  • July 1905 - Return to New York

  • 11 October 1905 - Fred Trump (POTUS' father) born.

So, Fred Trump was conceived in Germany, the parents were fighting to stay in Germany and wanted to have the son born there, but were told to leave against their will.

In theory, they could have stayed when they were supposed to leave and forged the documents, or snuck back for the birth, but then why would POTUS draw attention to some deception in his family roots?
