I think anon inverted the distances - 6.2 miles = 10 kms

I know that this is the default depth used by USGS when they don't have data and I'm guessing that IRIS does the same.

I've noticed this .2 number seems to coincide with some pretty funky wave forms, be it magnitude 4.2, 5.2 or 6.2 when coupled with the reported depth of 10 km.
