Remember Murietta? Dumping unvetted migrants into the cities of political foes was done by Obama first
President Trump's trial balloon of sending migrants surging across our border to sanctuary cities has been derided by Democrats as 'cynicism and cruelty' as well as 'a new low' by Trump, but it has a precedent: President Obama.
Back in 2014, when the migrant surge of that year brought tens of thousands of "unaccompanied children" and "moms and kids," into the Rio Grande Valley, overwhelming the Texas processing facilities, President Obama inexplicably targeted small- and mid-sized cities (same as the Trump officials' emails) as their next destination of choice. And instead of talking about it, they really did try to bus the unvetted migrants into small cities such as Murietta, California, Yuma, Arizona, and a conservative area of New Mexico, bringing crime, disease, and a high need for social services. without consulting those communities.
The residents protested, and the Obama administration declared them 'racist' in a bid to scare them into line.

Coachella Fire Burns Through the Campgrounds
At around 2 a.m. Saturday morning, an explosive fire broke out on the Coachella Campgrounds in Indio, California. During Weekend 1 of the music festival, explosions were heard before people noticed the public shower area was up in flames.
Videos were uploaded to Twitter from festival goers, and the theory was that the gas that lights the heat in the showers caught fire somehow. In the video, you can see authorities quickly blocked the area, and made sure everyone was out of the shower area section of the campgrounds.
Ambulances were quickly called to the scene, and miraculously, there were zero injuries reported. By 2:28 a.m. the fire was reported beout by Cal Fire Riverside. They tweeted, โRPT@ 2:06 am Empire Polo Grounds 81000 blk of Ave 51, in Indio. 4 ENG, 2 BC. FFs responded to reports of a fire Mobile Shower Unit on fire. Upon arrival the shower unit was fully involved, near center of venue.โ
The Riverside Fire Dept followed up with that message tweeting the good news that the first was out and no one was injured. โ[UPDATE] Fire Contained. Mobile Shower Unit in Lot 8 Storage Area. Total of 2 trailers involved. 1 damaged, 1 destroyed. No reported injuries to fire personnel or civilians. Fire crews will remain on scene for 1 hour for overhaul.โ
There were numerous tasteless tweets calling Coachella the new โFire Fest,โ referring to the Netflix and Hulu documentary films about Fyre Fest, the best musical festival that never happened, but most messages were campers in Indio, claiming themselves as safe, and wishing others were okay.
There are still two more full days left in Weekend 1 in Coachella, and hopefully, the public showers will quickly be fixed for every attendee thatโs chosen to camp in the Palm Springs Desert.

Sutter Health to settle Medicare allegations for $30 million
A Northern California health care provider has agreed to pay $30 million to settle allegations that it overcharged the federal government for Medicare patient reimbursements.
Sutter Health didn't acknowledge any liability in the settlement announced Friday by the U.S. Department of Justice.
Sutter Health is a Sacramento-based not-for-profit that has hospitals, affiliated health care foundations and other services covering more than 100 communities.
Federal officials alleged that Sutter submitted billing codes for some patients under Medicare Advantage plans, which are insurance plans managed by private organizations. The plans use so-called "risk codes" to determine reimbursements to the organizations for providing Medicare-covered services.
Authorities alleged that Sutter, which contracted with some Medicare Advantage groups, submitted diagnoses that inflated the risk codes and resulted in higher paybacks.

California Air National Guard removes commander over threats against whistleblowers
A third high-ranking officer in the California Air National Guard has been removed from his position because of complaints he made whistleblowers feel threatened at the 144th Fighter Wing in Fresno.
Col. Victor Sikora was relieved of command after engaging in "conduct unbecoming of an officer" by addressing a gathering of Guard members in a manner some found intimidating and humiliating, according to a report released Friday.
An internal inquiry also determined that Sikora improperly "excoriated" a retired pilot for speaking to the Los Angeles Times, the report said.
Sikora did not respond to requests for comment Friday.
Last week, Maj. Gen. Clay L. Garrison and Col. Dan Kelly were removed in the wake of a Times investigation that detailed the whistleblower complaints and allegations that officers covered up an incident in which someone urinated in a female Guard member's boots.
Garrison was the top commander of the air Guard, and Kelly headed the 144th wing.
Friday's report said that Sikora's "conduct also had a chilling effect" on Guard members by discouraging them from exercising their rights to seek redress through the organization's inspector general, their representatives in Congress or the news media. It said Sikora used insulting and defamatory language in remarks to subordinates.
The report was prepared by Brig. Gen. Tim Rieger, who was tasked by Maj. Gen. David Baldwin, head of the California Military Department, with investigating Sikora's actions.
Sikora was suspended as the wing's Operations Group leader in December. Three days later, the report said, he called a mandatory meeting of his subordinates to discuss his suspension.
At least one person recorded the briefing, where Sikora said anyone filing complaints was causing problems for the wing, according to the report.
"The vast majority of you are good people who are killing it in a high ops tempo year, you're very honorable, red-blooded Americans," Sikora said at the meeting, according to the report. "The vast majority means all of you, except for a couple of you, and they know who they are so we don't need to call them out. But everybody else."

Bloody jewel in crown of British Empire: How India was mistreated during colonial rule
From the East India Company to the Raj, India was a British colony until the mid-20th century. And despite nostalgic imperialists extolling the virtues of the empire's rule, it left behind millions of victims.
The 1919 Amritsar massacre, the grim anniversary of which India marked on Saturday, is one of the best-known examples of the atrocities committed by the British during their two-century colonial rule of India. But, numerically, its total of 1,600 victims looks like a small blot among the millions of deaths India suffered during the empire's prolonged misrule and exploitation.
The famines
From the 18th to the 20th century, various parts of India endured over a dozen devastating famines, which killed tens of millions of people, most of the events exacerbated, if not outright caused, by the colonial administration.
Quelling the Sepoy Rebellion
It would be wrong to fail to recognize the brutality of the Indian mutineers who rose up in 1857 โ it was the Indians who started the killing, after all, and the victims on the British side numbered in the thousands. It would be equally wrong to fail to acknowledge what drove them to revolt, or how disproportionate in both scale and brutality the British response was.
Partitioning of India
The same ruling that brought India independence also resulted in one of, if not the worst instances of mass migration in history, a division of enormous territories along religious lines and a scar on both the land and the collective consciousness of two peoples โ as well as over a million deaths and thousands of stories of atrocities and hardship which could have been avoided with better planning on the part of the retreating Brits.
British imperialists argue that in the end, India is better off, pointing to the staples of progress colonial rule brought in. But whether or not railroads, education, and cricket were worth two centuries of ruthless economic exploitation, cultural suppression, and millions of lives, is a question few are prepared to ask without flinching.
