Embarrassing: British Navy Fails at Tracking Russian Subs; Sailors Caught Doing Cocaine
The Royal Navy has always had a reputation for drink. But in the Age of Sail, they could still get the job done.
Imagine if Admiral Nelson were alive todayâŚ
Transcript:
Scandal in the British Navy. Sailors of the Talent nuclear submarine were caught using cocaine. It resulted in the disruption of the operation of tracking down Russian submarines in the North Sea.
It's reported HMS Talent should've gone on a raid last Sunday, but the day before the crew members attended a party after which seven sailors failed a drug test. They were fired and the submarine's departure was postponed.
The local press noted this wasn't the first time the submarine encountered troubles. Four years ago, this submarine was on a raid on tracking down Russians, but it hit an iceberg and almost sank.

Opioid Epidemic: Doctors Charged In 7 States For Prescribing Big Pharma Painkillers
In what is being dubbed the âlargest opioid takedownâ in the United States, 31 doctors spanning 7 states have been charged with prescribing drugs that are legal. However, the charges state that these doctors had illegally prescribed more than 32 million pain pills, including a dentist who unnecessarily pulled the teeth of his patients so he could prescribe pain pills.
According to the Washington Post, these arrests included doctors who prosecutors allege traded sex for opioid pain killer prescriptions. A total of 60 people were indicted, including the 31 doctors, seven pharmacists, eight nurse practitioners, and seven other licensed medical professionals. The charges stem from the governmentâs largest prescription-opioid takedown.
In Tennessee, a doctor who branded himself the âRock Doc,â allegedly prescribed dangerous combinations of opioids and benzodiazepines, sometimes in exchange for sexual favors. Over the course of three years, prosecutors say he prescribed nearly 500,000 hydrocodone pills, 300,000 oxycodone pills, 1,500 fentanyl patches and more than 600,000 benzodiazepines. âWashington Post
But there are some who allege the government themselves, thanks to lobbying and Big Pharmaâs money, are responsible for the opioid crisis, and they are only now trying to do damage control. This is yet another example of how the government screws up the economy and lives of the public then swoop in with some kind of âfixâ that likely wonât fix anything at all.
Many of those addicted to opioid painkillers eventually take to the streets to get their drugs, where their âhighâ is much cheaper and more readily available. But this recent takedown did involve more than 350,000 illegal prescriptions written in Alabama, Kentucky, Louisiana, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, and West Virginia, according to indictments unsealed in federal court in Cincinnati.
âThe opioid epidemic is the deadliest drug crisis in American history, and Appalachia has suffered the consequences more than perhaps any other region,â Attorney General William P. Barr said in a statement.
âThat is the equivalent of one opioid dose for every man, woman and childâ in the region, Brian Benczkowski, an assistant attorney general in charge of the Justice Departmentâs criminal division, said in an interview. âIf these medical professionals behave like drug dealers, you can rest assured that the Justice Department is going to treat them like drug dealers.â
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the opioid epidemic has killed nearly 218,000 Americans between 1999 and 2017. While deaths from overdoses reach crisis levels, many have taken their power back, and either refused opioid prescriptions or decided against filling them. Last year, the department charged 162 defendants, including 76 doctors, for their roles in prescribing and distributing opioids and other dangerous narcotics.
The arrests could leave thousands of addicts and legitimate pain patients without access to their doctors and health-care professionals. But donât worry, the government, who caused the problem, expanded the epidemic, and is now trying to appear as though they are fixing the problem, are going to help. Federal and local public health officials say they are working together to âensure continuity of care.â

Barr: Mueller Probe Did Not Present Sufficient Evidence to Establish Obstruction-of-Justice Offense
Attorney General William Barr said on April 18 that special counsel Robert Mueller did not provide sufficient evidence to support an obstruction-of-justice case against President Donald Trump.
âAfter carefully reviewing the facts and legal theories outlined in the report, and in consultation with the Office of Legal Counsel and other department lawyers, the deputy attorney general and I concluded that the evidence developed by the special counsel is not sufficient to establish that the president committed an obstruction-of-justice offense,â Barr said at a press conference.
Mueller, in his report, had not reached a prosecutorial judgment on the allegation of obstruction of justice and instead left the decision to the attorney general.
Barr said that he and Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein âdisagreed with some of the special counselâs legal theories,â but nevertheless âaccepted the special counselâs legal framework for purposes of our analysis and evaluated the evidence as presented by the special counsel in reaching our conclusion.â
In their report, the special counsel team presented 10 different episodes, which it then used to discuss potential legal theories for connecting the presidentâs actions to obstruction of justice.
The 10 episodes presented are wide ranging, from the circumstances of FBI Director James Comeyâs firing, to the allegation that Trump asked White House legal counsel Don McGahn to request that the Justice Department fire Mueller.

Schiff Spreads Trump-Russia Lies in Presser â Claims Trumpâs Acts of Obstruction âDeeply Alarmingâ (VIDEO)
Leaker and liar Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA) continued to spread Trump-Russia conspiracy theories in a press conference Thursday afternoon following the release of Muellerâs 448-page report.
âThere was an extensive campaign by the Russians to interfere in our elections in 2016â and those efforts âwere designed to help one party, Donald Trump, but hurt another, Hillary Clintonâ Schiff said, spreading more lies.
There is zero evidence that the internet memes were designed to help one party or another. Furthermore, a handful of Facebook posts and some Russian Twitter trolls do not have the power to influence or interfere in a US presidential election.
The notion that some Russian internet trolls could have tilted the election is patently absurd.
Hillary Clinton lost the election because she was a lousy choice for the Dems â a woman with a corrupt, criminal past with a sexual predator for a husband.
âWhether these acts are criminal or not, whether the obstruction of justice was criminal or notâŚthey are unquestionably dishonest, unethical, immoral and unpatriotic and should be condemned by every American,â Schiff said.
âThe facts that are now established by this report are damning,â Adam Schiff says of Mueller report. âThe standard cannot simply be that you can do anything you like so long as you can declare at the end of the day, âI am not a crook.â
Schiff then pivoted to the new Democrat-media talking point â the obstruction allegations in Muellerâs report.
âIf the special counselâŚhad found evidence exonerating the president, he would have said so. He did notâŚ.The acts of obstruction whether they are criminal or not are deeply alarming. He left that issue to the Congress of the United States, and we will need to consider it.â
Mueller concluded that Donald Trump did not conspire with the Kremlin during the 2016 presidential election, however, he punted the obstruction of justice issue to Attorney General Bill Barr and DAG Rod Rosenstein.
Barr and Rosenstein concluded that Trump did not obstruct justice after reviewing Muellerâs â10 episodesâ of potential obstruction.
Muellerâs team of angry Democrat donors desperately tried to pin obstruction charges on President Trump and failed.
Democrat lawmakers will now pick up the ambiguous allegations of obstruction in Muellerâs report and run with it to try to impeach President Trump.

More Airlines Collapse: Jet Airways India, Alitalia, WOW Air
Today, another major airline collapsed. Jet Airways, Indiaâs largest private airline, announced âwith immediate effectâ that it was âcompelled to cancel all its international and domestic flights.â It suspended operations on a âtemporaryâ basis. It said: âSince no emergency funding from the lenders or any other source is forthcoming, the airline will not be able to pay for fuel or other critical services to keep the operations going.â
Last year, Jet Airways âsuddenlyâ discovered serious financial issues, which led to a highly dramatic rescue effort by the main creditors (chiefly state-owned State Bank of India and private-sector ICICI Bank) and minority shareholder Etihad under the new Sashakt legislation introduced by the Indian government to deal with the chronic âsudden liquidity problemsâ of the giant Indian economy.
Etihad injected $35 million into the ailing Indian airline, and the State Bank of India and ICICI Bank provided $218 million emergency line of credit to meet immediate liquidity needs, such as paying salaries and keep alarmed lessors from immediately repossessing aircraft.
Apparently Jet Airways burned these fresh funds in no time, as the companyâs financial situation was spinning out of control. Cabin crews, pilots and office staff went on strike over unpaid salaries. Suppliers of goods and services started cutting off deliveries âuntil debts are repaid at least in part.â Dutch authorities seized a Jet Airways Boeing 777-300ER at Schiphol Airport on April 12 following a court ruling over unpaid handling fees.
Unpaid lessors scrambled to get their aircraft back: According to Indiaâs Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) in the April 8-14 week alone, 22 of the companyâs leased 737-800âs were deregistered and handed back to lessors. Between leased aircraft being repossessed and others being grounded for financial issues, Jet Airwaysâ operational fleet has gone from 124 planes in February to just 14.
