Tear gas & batons near EU Parliament as Strasbourg police struggle to hold off marching Yellow Vests

Yellow Vest protesters have marched on the European Parliament building in Strasbourg, prompting police to deploy tear gas. The demonstrators have also swarmed several TV stations, demanding better coverage of their movement.

The 24th consecutive weekend of demonstrations saw more than 5,000 protesters take to the streets across France, including 2,600 in Paris, according to Interior Ministry figures, which the Yellow Vests have often questioned in the past.

In Strasbourg, tear gas filled the streets as police struggled to keep hundreds of demonstrators away from the EU Parliament buildings. Police have blocked roads and bridges, and clashes have broken out between heavily armored riot control officers and masked protesters.

US Agrees With Russia, China on Framework for Afghanistan Pullout

State Dept: Nations support 'orderly' withdrawal of foreign troops

A new joint statement from the United States, Russia, and China expresses their mutual agreement on the general framework of the withdrawal of foreign (i.e. NATO) troops from Afghanistan.

The general idea is that the US and allied forces would leave Afghanistan as part of a peace deal, which would come with a commitment from the Taliban to keep ISIS and al-Qaeda out of the country.

These are the terms which were already reported to have been coming out of US-Taliban talks, and the State Department’s own statement said the other nations support an “orderly and responsible withdrawal of foreign troops.”

Negotiating the specifics beyond this framework, including timing, has yet to be done, and US efforts to get the Taliban talking with the Afghan government are on hold after Afghan officials failed to show for last week’s meeting.

Getting Russia on board with this deal is particularly important, as Russia has long feared that the inevitable NATO defeat, and withdrawal from Afghanistan was going to destabilize the region, and threaten some of Russia’s close allies, former Soviet states in the vicinity.

Yemen has taken the fight to Saudi Arabia

Houthis Capture More Military Positions In Saudi Arabia’s Jizan

The Houthis launched a new military operation in the southern Saudi province of Jizan on April 26. In the course of the operation, the Yemeni group captured several key positions from the Saudi-led coalition east of the al-Nar mount.

A video showing the newly-captured positions was released by the Houthis media wing. Several light weapons, which were captured by Houthi fighters during the clashes, can be also seen in the video.

Few days ago, the Houthis launched a similar attack on the Saudi-led coalition’s positions near the al-Dud mount. As a result of the attack, the coalition lost several positions. Furthermore, many Sudanese soldiers were reportedly killed in the clashes.

The recent advance by the Houthis in Jizan indicates that the performance of Saudi-led coalition forces deployed along Yemen’s border is actually getting worse. The Yemeni group will likely try to take advantage of this by developing its operations not only in Jizan, but also in Asir and Najran.

Is this why Trump vetoed the congress bill re Yemen? Are they using the Houthis to take out the Saudi arm of the Cabal? and congress tried to stop them?
