Won't spend their own money to support a candidate but will contribute when it (supposedly) comes from others. That tells me that the folks in Seattle aren't actually all that interested in local politics. During the course of a campaign season, I send money all over the country to support candidates I think merit support … but these people will only spend the money if someone hands it to them first with the stipulation that it can't be spent any other way.

Now, out of all the vouchers handed out (Seattle has an estimated 744,955 residents, so there should have been about $7,4495,500 buckaroo bucks floating around), only about $1mn came back. That tells me that, even given $100, most of the people of Seattle simply don't give a fuck for the candidates.

Less than $1 in 7 came back. Looks to me like a resounding failure. The candidate who mentioned that she wouldn't have been running without this money sounds like someone who has no business running to start with because she doesn't have the support of the people she will be making laws for. The first, and often the most important, ballots cast usually have "Federal Reserve" printed on them somewhere.
