Counter Terrorism - Justice Sector Capacity Building

October 2017 – Present

Prosecutorial training on counterterrorism and complex criminal cases, trials including case management. Developing prosecutorial training institute, E. Africa.

 

Combating Wildlife Crime

February 2015 – Present

For the last three years LWOB has been working with key stakeholders in Kenya and Tanzania combating wildlife crime, building capacity in the investigative units with the aim of improving prosecutorial efforts. Trainings have extended for the first time deep into conservation and national park areas. Programming in the field includes forensics, processing and sequencing of crime scene, interviewing witnesses, preparing witness statements and reports and testifying at trial. Community engagement issues are focused on mitigation of the human/wildlife conflict. All justice sector actors are included in the programming which also includes train-the-trainer components to build capacity and support sustainability of LWOB efforts.

 

Human Trafficking

November 2010 – Present

Since 2010 LWOB has been engaged in human trafficking programming addressing justice sector support of victims this is focused on and targets improvement of collaboration and coordination among law enforcement, prosecutors and Judges to improve access to justice for victims of human trafficking. LWOB has trained and created materials, including eLearning modules, to aid the NGO sectors whose constituents include past, current or populations at risk of being trafficked. LWOB's Human Trafficking work to date has been focused on Liberia and Tanzania.
