Researching signs of corruption in border towns.

This article is about an Arizona checkpoint that gets a lot of grant money, but only accounts for very few arrests of illegal aliens. One scientist who must cross a checkpoint twice daily to get to his observatory has documented violations of law and signs of corruption. Seems for the little benefit to capturing aliens a lot of the locals are getting lots and lots of overtime for manning the checkpoint with CPD. Most arrests are for minuscule amounts of pot. (when you get grant money you have to show a return on the investment, you see)

The scientist at one point was dragged from his car and thrown to the pavement - for questioning the basis for his being detained.

This article was suggested reading before you watched the video about a First Amendment Audit

at 9:45 in the video the auditor discusses his rights

and says that Border Patrol has the right to temporarily stop someone on the road as a brief investigation whether or not they are legal citizens

The auditor says this is called "catch and release." It refers to this border stop that would otherwise be a violation of freedom.

The way it shows in the video

you have BP who speak with an accent

demanding a man who DOES NOT speak with an accent to obey their detention when the auditor does not answer the question:

"are you a U.S. citizen?"

The auditor considers this idiotic to take someone's word about citizenship.

He keeps saying "what makes you think I am not a citizen?"

so according to this auditor

who is experienced in police practices

CATCH AND RELEASE refers to this temporary border stop

and NOT TO SOMEONE WHO CANNOT PROVE THEY ARE A CITIZEN

the whole thing is idiotic

how do you prove your citizenship at a border stop?
