What [they] are trying to distract from is that the uncut version shows the SS Driver, William Greer braking to a near halt after turning TWICE to see that JFK had not yet been mortally hit. This severe braking was in complete contrast to SS training to floor the limo after hearing anything close to the sound of a gunshot.
However, what was clearly edited OUT of the film were the frames of the Dallas PD motorcycle cop catching up with and actually passing the back bumper of the limo because Greer had braked the limo so severely, they appeared to shoot AHEAD of the limo. This damning visual evidence had to be removed from the film. So the entire "watch the SS driver" was just the use of the magician's important art of "misdirection" by diverting his audiences' eyes from the actual trick.
Here is the portion of the suppressed Orville Nix film which was taken from the opposite side of the street from Zapruder along with the account of the ACTUAL Dallas motorcycle cop, Bobby Hargis, which shows SS agent Greer had braked so hard that "the limo slowed almost to a stop". You can clearly see the left side motorcycle appear to surge past the back of the limo as the the vehicle brakes:
