Hong Kong Protests Attract Massive Crowds, Estimated 800k March In Financial District

Netanyahu demands US backing of Jordan Valley 'annexation plan' after Washington denies he ever spoke of it with Pompeo

The embattled Prime Minister wants Washington to approve of Israel's further expansion into the Jordan Valley, just days after he urged Donald Trump not to miss a rare chance to back Tel Aviv's territorial appetites.

Benjamin Netanyahu, who fiercely fights for re-election, believes that "the time has come to extend Israeli sovereignty over the Jordan Valley," a swath of land spanning between the occupied West Bank and neighboring Kingdom of Jordan. On their part, Israel's closest ally should give a final nod to the move.

"I want American recognition of our sovereignty in the Jordan Valley. This is important," he bluntly told an event set up on Sunday by Israel's Makor Rishon newspaper. As part of the proposed annexation, all Jewish settlements in the area would become part of Israel, he insisted.

Two days ago, Netanyahu claimed he talked the issue with the US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo at their meeting in Lisbon. Interestingly, the State Department quickly disavowed his report, telling journalists that no such discussion had ever taken place.

"I can tell you that there was no annexation plan, full or partial, for any part of the West Bank presented by Israel to the United States during the meeting," Assistant Secretary for Near East David Schenker told an official briefing.

Netanyahu's response to the comment was next to incomprehensible. "It was said that the issue was not raised [at the Pompeo meeting], the issue was raised," he explained. The Americans, he believes, "didn't say it was not raised, they said that a formal plan was not discussed."

Also in the week, the Prime Minister bragged about talking the prospective move with the US President Donald Trump. The two naturally discussed Iran, but their phone call also revolved around "historic opportunities that stand before us in the coming months – among them are [establishing] the Jordan Valley as the recognized eastern border of the State of Israel."

Back in September, Netanyahu vowed that he would immediately annex the valley if reelected during Israel's contentious general election. As he failed to score an overwhelming win, the recent outbursts were apparently aimed at winning support from right-wing voters.

Newsweek reporter resigns after accusing outlet of SUPPRESSING story about OPCW leak that undermines Syria ‘gas attack’ narrative

A reporter for Newsweek says he has quit his job after his editor allegedly refused to publish an article about an internal email that raises serious questions about the OPCW’s findings on an alleged gas attack in Douma, Syria.

“Yesterday I resigned from Newsweek after my attempts to publish newsworthy revelations about the leaked OPCW letter were refused for no valid reason,” Tareq Haddad tweeted out on Saturday.

The recently-leaked document contradicts key conclusions in a report by the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW), about the April 2018 chemical weapons attack in Douma. The incident was blamed on Damascus and was used by the US and its allies to justify airstrikes against Syrian military installations.

The email, sent by an OPCW inspector who participated in the Douma probe, outlines several instances in which facts discovered by his team had been distorted or suppressed in the OPCW’s draft report, resulting in “an unintended bias” in the resulting text.

In a series of follow-up tweets, the former Newsweek journalist said that he had “collected evidence of how they suppressed the story,” adding that he also had evidence that the outlet had cut material, in a separate incident, because the information was “inconvenient to the US government” – even though it was factually correct.

While media outlets rushed last year to blame Damascus for the attack, the leaked email – as well as some troubling revelations from an OPCW whistleblower – have been almost completely ignored by the western press.

Officials who spoke to the Associated Press also revealed that authorities have, as of Saturday evening, detained 10 Saudi nations on the naval base for questioning while several others remain "unaccounted for."

The official who spoke Saturday said one of the three students who attended the dinner party hosted by the attacker recorded video outside the classroom building while the shooting was taking place. Two other Saudi students watched from a car, the official said.

Ten Saudi students were being held on the base Saturday while several others were unaccounted for, said the official, who spoke on condition of anonymity after being briefed by federal authorities.

As TheBlaze previously reported, only six Saudi nationals were being held as of Friday night. Officials have not said if the individuals are connected to Friday's tragedy.

Sources who spoke to CNN and the AP both said that officials are investigating whether the incident is terrorism-related.

Defense Secretary Mark Esper said Saturday, "No, I can't say it's terrorism at this time. I think we need to let the investigators of the FBI do its work and tell us, get us the facts and we'll work out from there."

President Donald Trump said Saturday that Saudi King Salman is "devastated" by what happened and "will be involved in taking care of families and loved ones" of the victims.

School Cop Gets 10 Years in Prison for Violently Raping 12yo Girl, Filming It

Deer Park, TX — Last year, TFTP reported that another Texas school cop had been arrested and charged with rape. Cypress-Fairbanks Independent School District police officer Jorge Luis Bastida, 22, was arrested and charged with aggravated sexual assault on a 12-year-old girl he stalked online. This week, unlike so many cops who get away with similar crimes, Bastida was sentenced to 10 years in prison.

“He swore an oath to protect children,” Harris County District Attorney Kim Ogg said this week. “He promised to protect and serve one of our most vulnerable populations and instead, he exploited and violated a young girl. He stole her childhood.”

Prosecutors said Bastida met the young girl on a smartphone app called “Meet Me” where she reportedly sent the police officer nude photos. After a few days of online flirting, the police officer sent an Uber to pick up the girl on Monday night before he brought her to a nearby hotel where the girl says the officer raped her.

The girl says Bastida held her down and raped her despite her pleas for the police officer to stop. She says she told him she was only 12 but he continued. The two spent the night in the Guest House Hotel and checked out on a Tuesday morning.

The Fairmont Junior High School student was reported missing by her family Monday night. Lt. Chris Brown of the Deer Park Police Department described the missing persons investigation:

We started going through her social media accounts and discovered she was communicating with an unknown male who had arranged to have her picked up from her residence and taken to an unknown location.

Police say they discovered the MeetMe app on her school issued iPad although school officials disputed the contention arguing the iPads are incapable of being used for such social media apps. Brown said what they uncovered led police to believe she was in “extreme danger”. He told reporters:

The conversations were similar to those we’ve seen in the past of pedophiles who try to lure children out of the house.

According to Chron, prosecutors are confident Bastida is their perpetrator and that the officer violently raped her, while filming the entire attack with his phone.

The girl told police that Bastida held her down by the neck and raped her, according to police records. She told him to stop, telling him she was only 12 years old, but he assaulted her again, the prosecutor said. The girl said that he filmed the entire incident on his cell phone.

Multiple Cops Arrested in Kentucky For Running a Steroid Ring

Louisville, KY — As the Free Thought Project reports on a regular basis, cops across the country are often caught committing the same crimes for which they routinely kidnap and cage people. From stealing from charities to selling drugs they steal from their jobs as cops, many police officers have proven to be as bad or worse than than the criminals from which they claim to protect society. The following instance out of Kentucky of a cop running a steroid ring highlights this hypocrisy quite well.

Below is a post from Scott County deputy Joe Baker from earlier this year in which he is bragging about kidnapping and caging people for possessing cannabis.

He also arrested his own sister for drugs two years ago.

What makes these arrests particularly hypocritical is the fact that deputy Baker, himself, was just arrested last week on similar charges. Earlier this year, Scott County Sheriff Jerry Goodin asked Indiana State Police to investigate after receiving a tip that Deputy Joe Baker and Reserve Officer Phil Thomas were involved in dealing illegal steroids.

“He immediately stepped into action and contacted us,” ISP Sgt. Carey Huls said. “We worked side by side to make sure everything was above board and done properly. And that was one reason Sheriff Goodin contacted our department. He didn’t want anybody thinking they were hiding any information or covering anything up in their department.”

The investigation would find out that Baker and Thomas were, in fact, not only using illegal steroids, but running an operation and conspiracy to sell them.

“Officer Baker was a school resource officer,” Goodin said. “He had been assigned to one of the schools here in the community, and I wanted it done before school opened back up on Monday.”

According to WDRB, Baker, 39, is now charged with three felonies, including conspiracy to deal steroids, official misconduct and possession of a hypodermic needle. He also faces a misdemeanor charge of possession of a controlled substance.

In a Facebook post this week, Baker apologized to the community “with humility and shame running down my face” for the crimes he committed. While everyone deserves to be forgiven for their mistakes, the hypocrisy of taking people’s freedom for similar acts, while committing those same acts, speaks volumes. Nevertheless, the community has rallied around this cop — who betrayed his oath to the constitution and the community he served. People all over Facebook and the media appear to be bending over backward to show their support for this officer.

Macron’s France Rocked by Fourth Day of Transport Strikes over Pensions

PARIS (AP) – France’s prime minister is holding special meetings Sunday about the government’s divisive redesign of the national retirement system, amid warnings that strike-related transport troubles will get even worse in the coming days.

Travel tangles continued Sunday as the strikes entered their fourth day, with most French trains at a standstill. Fourteen of Paris’ subway lines were closed, with only two lines – using automated trains with no drivers – functioning. International routes also suffered disruptions.

Monday will be a bigger test of the strike movement’s strength, and of travellers’ patience. Unions are calling for even more people to walk off the job Monday, when commuters go back to work. Many people worked from home or took a day off when the strike began last week, but that’s not sustainable if the strikes drag on.

Warning of safety risks, the SNCF national train network and Paris transit authority RATP warned travellers to stay away Monday instead of packing platforms for the few functioning trains. “On December 9, stay home or find another means of locomotion,” SNCF said in a message to travellers.

Looking ahead to a challenging week, Prime Minister Edouard Philippe is holding meetings Sunday afternoon and evening with government ministers involved in the reform – and with President Emmanuel Macron, according to government officials.

Macron, a centrist former investment banker, argues that the retirement overhaul will make a convoluted, out-dated system more fair and financially sustainable. Unions however see the reform as an attack on fundamental worker rights, and fear people will have to work longer for smaller pensions.

The government says it won’t change the official retirement age of 62, but the plan is expected to include financial conditions to encourage people to work longer, as life spans lengthen.

New nationwide protests are scheduled Tuesday, and the prime minister is scheduled to release details of the plan Wednesday.

Trump Science Advisor Happer Says President Understands Climate Change Is ‘Mostly Hype’

(Madrid, Spain) — President Trump understands that climate change is “mostly hype” but is being held back from taking tougher action against the scam by his own advisors who fear it might cost him votes, his ex-science advisor Dr William Happer says.

Dr Happer, Cyrus Fogg Brackett Professor of Physics, Emeritus, at Princeton University and — till September this year — senior director at the National Security Council’s Office for Emerging Technology, was speaking in Madrid, Spain. Speaking in an exclusive interview with Breitbart News, he said:

I think [Trump] recognises that [climate change] is mostly hype. But his advisors are worried that this is an issue that might cost more votes than it wins. I can understand that. My speciality is science and engineering, not winning elections.

His advisors worry. They feel like they have to protect [President Trump] from himself.

But how can Happer be so sure that man-made climate change isn’t a problem?

I’m an atomic physicist and spectroscopist, I’ve done a lot of optical physics, I became best known for inventing the sodium guidestar which is used to correct for atmospheric turbulence so I’ve known a lot about the atmosphere for many years, and a lot about spectroscopy — all of which are the prime movers of global warming. And if you look from that point of view you don’t see how anyone could be concerned because there’s just not that much effect there.

What about all those scientists who, we’re told, think it’s a problem?

Most of them just don’t know what they’re talking about.

Is there a danger that vested interests are going to make it harder and harder to counter climate change alarmism?

Oh yes. The Deep State — meaning the permanent bureaucracy — has a lot of money tied up in this. So they’re not going to give up this without a big fight. But that’s the way Washington has always been.

One of the reasons I went to the White House was I did my best to promote a serious review of climate — what do we know, what do we not know — I think the President would like to do that but for the reasons I mentioned I alluded to it was not done. Maybe he will do it on the second term if he is re-elected.

Would it help if California went 100 per cent “zero carbon”, as green activists are demanding?

I think it would be very helpful. It would be bad for the poor citizens of [California] but it would be good for the rest of the world. One of the advantages we have in the United States over other countries is that we have states, and so a state can try out something which might be a good idea or which might be a terrible idea without affecting the entire country. So we should take advantage of this. Let California do everything that the Greens demand them to do. Let’s see what will happen. I know what will happen…

It will be a disaster. Jobs will be lost, there will be blackouts, it will be the ultimate morality play. We’ll see how some of the movie stars like what they’ve created….

Dozens of Nigerian Mafia Arrested in Europe-Wide Operation

Police in several European countries have arrested dozens of suspected Nigerian mafia members as the crime organisation spreads across Italy and the wider continent.

Authorities in Italy, France, Germany, the Netherlands, and Malta conducted the international operation, which was directed at two major Nigerian mafia groups. Police accuse the gangs of people-trafficking, drug trafficking, extortion, and prostitution, Agenzia Giornalistica Italia reports.

According to the news service, arrests in Italy took place across the country in Puglia, Sicily, Campania, Calabria, Lazio, Abruzzo, Marche, Emilia Romagna, and Veneto.

The District Anti-Mafia Directorate of the Bari Prosecutor’s Office has described the Nigerian mafia as “tribal and ruthless”. It noted that the Nigerians have managed to expand significantly in northern Italy and even in the south and Sicily, where they now compete with traditional mafia groups.

The two main groups in Italy are the Supreme Eye and the Black Ax, the latter of which is also becoming more influential in countries like Sweden, according to a report from October.

Nigerians have lived in Italy since at least the 1980s, and the first arrest of a Nigerian for drug dealing occurred in 1987. Since then, the Nigerian mafia has rapidly grown and established major presences in areas like Palermo and Cagliari.

The mafia is also known to use “juju” — a form of voodoo practised in Nigeria to better control drug traffickers and prostitutes, most of whom are imported into Europe from Africa using counterfeit documents or illegal migration.

Drugs are also a significant source of revenue, with the Nigerian mafia using a tactic of having many smugglers transporting small amounts of drugs each to mitigate losses for any of the criminals who are caught by authorities.

The Italian Anti-Mafia Investigation Directorate (DIA) also expressed concerns earlier this year about the possibility of radical Islamic groups like Boko Haram radicalising members of the Nigerian mafia.

Netanyahu’s personal lawyer to be charged with money laundering

Israel’s state prosecutor has plans to indict prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s cousin and personal lawyer, alongside six other people, on charges related to a possible conflict of interest over a $2bn purchase of German submarines.

Shai Nitzan said in a statement on Thursday the seven would be charged on various corruption offences, including money laundering, bribery and fraud – pending a hearing.

Among them is Mr Netanyahu’s attorney, David Shimron, who represented the German firm involved and was suspected of using his influence over the prime minister in return for a hefty cut of the deal.

Also set to be indicted is David Sharan, who once headed Mr Netanyahu’s office. The former head of the navy, Eliezer Marom, has also been implicated.

Mr Netanyahu was questioned during the investigation known as “File 3000” but not named as a suspect. But the involvement of his closest aides has sparked questions about his earnings on a related German submarine sale to Egypt.

Saudi Arabia ends gender-segregated entrances for restaurants

Restaurants in Saudi Arabia will no longer need to maintain entrances segregated by sex, the authorities said on Sunday, further eroding some of the world’s strictest social rules as sweeping reforms take hold.

Previously, Saudi Arabia required all restaurants to have one entrance for families and women, and another for men on their own. The ministry of municipalities and rural affairs announced on Twitter this would no longer be mandatory.

Unrelated men and women have for decades been barred from mixing in public places under strict social rules once enforced by hardline clerics and the religious police.

But Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman has brought the religious establishment to heel – partly by arresting critics – and eased other restrictions, including bans on women driving and public entertainment.

Segregation has quietly eased over the past year or so, as eateries, cafes, conference centres, and concert halls stopped strictly enforcing it.

First person charged under Florida 'red flag' law found guilty

The first person to have his guns confiscated under Florida’s 2018 “red flag” law has been found guilty over his refusal to voluntarily surrender the weapons.

Jerron Smith, 33, now faces up to five years in prison after a jury in Broward County rejected his argument that he did not fully understand the new law. The jury returned the verdict Friday after a short trial.

Smith, of Deerfield Beach, was the subject of a risk protection order soon after the law was enacted in response to the Parkland high school mass shooting in February 2018.

Iran presidnet unveils draft 'budget of resistance' to counter sanctions

Iranian President Hassan Rouhani has submitted a draft state budget to the parliament, saying it has the least possible dependence on oil and is meant to resist and counter US sanctions.

He gave the value of the draft budget at about 4,845 trillion rials ($38.8 billion at the free market rate) for the next Iranian year which starts on March 20, 2020.

"Next year, similar to the current year, our budget is a budget of resistance and perseverance against sanctions," he told the parliament in Tehran on Sunday.

"This budget announces to the world that despite sanctions, we will manage the country, especially in terms of oil," he added.

The budget, he said, has taken the US "maximum pressure" campaign against the Islamic Republic into account. “This is a budget to resist sanctions … with the least possible dependence on oil.”

The president stressed that the enemies have failed in their plot to wreck Iran’s economy and that the government has taken big steps toward prosperity and progress.

FBI Partners with the Postal Service to Get Your Fingerprints

It wasn’t all that long ago that the public was made aware of the huge privacy concerns with sharing your DNA with consumer genetic testing companies to find out your origins. One such concern was the ability of the federal government and law enforcement agencies to gain access to your DNA. As the public has become more aware of such privacy concerns, it seems strange that on Friday, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) announced a new partnership with the United States Postal Service where customers like you can voluntarily provide them with their fingerprints while you’re at the post office.

Isn’t that nice and convenient? The government is making it that much easier for you to give them your fingerprints! Gotta buy some stamps or mail a package, why not help the government build up a national database of fingerprints. That sounds great for your privacy.

For a fee, the FBI can provide individuals with an Identity History Summary—often referred to as a criminal history record or a “rap sheet”—listing certain information taken from fingerprint submissions kept by the FBI and related to arrests and, in some instances, federal employment, naturalization, or military service.

If the fingerprint submissions are related to an arrest, the Identity History Summary includes the name of the agency that submitted the fingerprints to the FBI, the date of the arrest, the arrest charge, and the disposition of the arrest, if known. All arrest information included in an Identity History Summary is obtained from fingerprint submissions, disposition reports, and other information submitted by authorized criminal justice agencies.

The U.S. Department of Justice Order 556-73, also known as Departmental Order, establishes rules and regulations for you to obtain a copy of your Identity History Summary for review or proof that one does not exist.

USDOJ Order 556-73 was first published in the Federal Register in 1973.

According to the FBI website, “Only you may request a copy of your own Identity History Summary (or proof that one does not exist). You would typically make this request for personal review, to challenge information on record, to meet a requirement for adopting a child, or to meet a requirement to live, work, or travel in a foreign country.”

Of course, there are plenty of ways to obtain a criminal background check without providing the federal government your fingerprint. Most of the information is a part of the public record. If you’ve forgotten that you’ve been arrested in the past and want to check, you can start with local records before you give Big Brother your fingerprints. There are also some websites that can pull up records for a fee as well, without giving up your fingerprints.

PG&E Update: After California Wildfires, Bankrupted Utility Company Reaches $13.5 Billion Settlement With Victims

Utility company Pacific Gas and Electric (PG&E) said Friday that it had reached a $13.5 billion deal to settle victims' claims from the wildfires that ravaged multiple areas of California from 2017 and 2018, as well as the 2015 Butte fire. The company filed Chapter 11 bankruptcy in January claiming that it had potential liabilities of $30 billion stemming from these wildfires.

“From the beginning of the Chapter 11 process, getting wildfire victims fairly compensated, especially the individuals, has been our primary goal. We want to help our customers, our neighbors and our friends in those impacted areas recover and rebuild after these tragic wildfires,” President and CEO of PG&E Corporation Bill Johnson said.

The money in the deal would go to the wildfire victims and to the government agencies and attorneys who worked on the claims.

The 2015 Butte Fire in Amador County, Calfornia, killed two people, while the 2017 Northern California wildfires killed 44 people and destroyed 8,900 buildings. The 2018 wildfire season was the worst that California has ever seen, leaving 103 people dead and 22,751 buildings destroyed.

State fire investigators have tied PG&E transmission lines to the Camp Fire in California in 2018, which killed 85 people in the vicinity of the town of Paradise. They also believed that power lines from the company caused some fires north of San Francisco Bay in 2017.

California wildfires in 2019 have killed five people. The Kincade Fire in Sonoma County was the largest of the 2019 season, lasting from Oct. 23 to Nov. 6.

FBI Treats Florida Naval Base Shooting as Act of Terrorism

A Saudi Air Force aviation student opened fire in a classroom at the base on 6 December, killing three US sailors and wounding two sheriff’s deputies before he was shot dead in an exchange of fire.

The FBI stated that it is investigating the fatal shooting at the naval base in Florida "with the presumption that this was an act of terrorism".

"We are, as we do in most active shooter investigations, work[ing] with the presumption that this was an act of terrorism", Rachel Rojas, who is in charge of the Jacksonville Field Office, told a press conference.

A special agent with the FBI stated that the shooter used a Glock 45 9mm that he purchased legally in the attack that killed three people and wounded eight.

In the meantime, US National Security Adviser Robert O’Brien also suggested that the shooting at the Pensacola naval base could be an act of terrorism.

"To me it appears to be a terrorist attack. I do not want to prejudge the investigation, but it appears that this may be someone that was radicalized, whether it was here or it's unclear if he's got any other ties to other organisations", he told CBS.

O’Brien said he did not know if this was "part of a broader plot", but stressed that "it looks like terrorism". The FBI has been interviewing other Saudi students at the base and it is up to them to determine what the shooter’s motivations were, the senior official added.

On 6 December, the Saudi national, identified by US media as Mohammed Saeed Alshamrani, a cadet in a US Navy flight training programme, opened fire at Naval Air Station Pensacola, killing three people and injuring another eight before being gunned down by police officers.

The incident follows Wednesday’s shooting at another US naval facility in Pearl Harbour, Hawaii, where a gunman killed two civilian workers and wounded a third before shooting himself dead.

Earlier today, an indictment was unsealed against the CEO of an online payment processing company, and seven others, charging them with conspiring to make and conceal conduit and excessive campaign contributions, and related offenses, during the U.S. presidential election in 2016 and thereafter.

Assistant Attorney General Brian A. Benczkowski of the Justice Department’s Criminal Division and Assistant Director in Charge Timothy R. Slater of the FBI’s Washington Field Office made the announcement.

Nadler: Trump Will 'Rig' 2020 Election If He Isn't Impeached And Removed

President Trump will try to "rig" the 2020 election if he isn't impeached and removed from office, according to House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerrold Nadler (D-NY).

In an interview with "Meet the Press," Nadler said that the Senate will have to decide "In the face of an abundance of uncontested evidence that the president poses a threat to our election, that he put his own interests above the interests of the country, are they going to be patriots or are they going to be partisans?"

Host Chuck Todd then asked: "If he's acquitted, do you think we'll have a fair election in 2020?"

To which Nadler replied: "I don't know. The president based on his past performance will do everything he can to make it not a fair election.'
