Planefag stuff

Just for a little "inside" Planefag knowledge you may or may not be interested in….Military and Civilian aircraft are REQUIRED to have ADS-B out capability as of this year. That said, I am sure the military skirts around this to some extent.

The point is, they are not "turning it off". That is not how it works. What the military has is encrypted. It is there, we just can't see it. This is on most combat ready aircraft. Once in a while you will see the occasional B-52 or F-16 test aircraft or whatever. ADS-B is on. Always, unless there is a mechanical failure. It is a requirement of Air Traffic Control.

Now, most of the time, the "vanishing" is not due to them cloaking or turning it off….although the Electronic warfare aircraft are capable of that….no, more often, it is a result of the ground receiver feeding the ADS-B exchange system is simply not picking it up. There are holes out there where they seem to "disappear'.

I DO know they have the ability on at least some aircraft to switch between encrypted and non-encrypted, as we have seen AF1 on multiple occasions employ this.

Anyway, just some clarification on how the system actual works.

You are not understanding….You can't turn it on or off. That's not how the system works. If it is off, Air Traffic Control can't see anything but a blip…if they are lucky. It is 100% REQUIRED over all of Europe as well as across the NAT Tracks.

I'm am far from "ignorant". I've only done this for 30 years. I think I know what I am talking about. You really want to know why you can't see anything in the ME??? NO FUCKING GROUND RECEIVERS!! That's why. Also the fact that we are back to encryption. They have it, you just can't see it.

Stop espousing on shit you obviously know nothing about.

Yes. That is exactly correct. Just because we can't see them does not mean they don't have it or "turned it off". It simply doesn't work that way. Believe me, there have been a couple of times that I wished I COULD have turned it off. LOL!

One other thing to consider….ADS-B Exchange is what we are using. They have to have a ground feed to show aircraft. They ar NOT tapped into the ATC system, as that is a highly secured infrastructure. SO without receivers….no data.
