Here is that song about Russian Roads again.

It's worth learning Russian just to fully understand

The beauty of rutted, muddy, almost impassible roads

At spring breakup (Alaskans will understand)

When the freeze-thaw cycles turn roads into mush

My favorite bits are near the end…

When we retreat, Susanin goes before us

The Russian Road is bequeathed to us by God

You can feel the love for the awful mess these roads make.

Ivan Susanin is a folk hero.

When Nazi soldiers demanded that he lead them to the partisans

He asked, Straight there?

They said yes, so he led them into impassible swamps

When they realized the trick and got angry

They killed him

But too late they realized that without a guide,

They could not get out of the swamps.

The Eastern Front was a territory RICH in swampland

The singer has put on old fashioned WWI army clothes

And like the soldiers fighting the Nazis,

He plays an accordion to sing his folk song

Russian Roads

This song is not a joke

The Russian people get tears in their eyes listening to this song

It is all about Russian suffering and success

27,000,000 people dies in WWII

To win victory agains the Nazis

This war was won by the heart and spirit of the Russian people

Not by Communism

Here is a version sung by a choir of schoolgirls

Thing is,

That those Alaska roads are high quality

Build with deep layers of crushed stone and gravel

Easy to drive on

There is nothing really bad about those roads

This clip is a slide show of the REAL Russian Road

I like the one at 1:40 showing the 70 km/hr max speed sign.

It's the equivalent of 45 mph

I have personally driven on roads like this

In both Central/Northern Ontario

And British Columbia

Two of the provinces in Canada

I've gotten out and pushed cars/vans/trucks and even tractors

Many times. A regular springtime chore.

I've dug out wheels from the mud

Attached tow chains and then pushed while the tractor

Slowly dragged the vehicle to a spot with traction.

I've lost my rubber boots to mud suction many times

And sometimes got my sock feet soaked by mud

Or fallen over into the mud

There is a thing that happens to you

When you survive such hardships

It makes you a stronger person

And you look back on those days of struggle with the muddy roads

And it brings a tear to the eye

This is how Russia has defeated every invader that has ever

Sent an army into their aboriginal lands

This aboriginal people

Have placed their stake in the ground

And as long as other countries let them live their lives their own way

In their own sovereign nation

The Russian people will say, live and let live

If the USA agrees with this philosophy

Then the Socialist/Communist/Globalists will be erased from the Earth

And never come back.
