Cynthia Abcug was arrested late last month in Montana. She's accused of plotting to kidnap her child, who was taken from her custody.

 

PARKER, Colo. — A Parker mother has been arrested and is accused of plotting to kidnap her child — who had been removed from her custody — in a "raid" with help from a far-right conspiracy theory group, according to an arrest warrant from the Parker Police Department (PPD).

 

Cynthia Abcug, 50, was arrested in Montana on Dec. 30 on a charge of conspiracy to commit second-degree kidnapping, a spokesperson for the PPD said.

 

The warrant for Abcug was issued in September after a caseworker alerted authorities that Abcug's daughter, who was living with her in Parker, reported that her mom had "lots of weapons in her home" and an "armed man was living there," the warrant says.

 

The daughter also reported that the man had a "plan to kidnap Abcug's other child," who had been removed from her custody, according to the warrant.

 

Abcug's daughter said her mother "had gotten into some conspiracy theories" and was "spiraling down," the warrant says.

 

She also said that Abcug was "planning a raid" where they "intended to kidnap" her other child, according to the warrant.

 

Abcug's daughter believed the raid would be carried out by members of the QAnon group. According to the warrant, QAnon is a far-right conspiracy theory detailing a supposed secret plot by an alleged deep state against President Donald Trump and his supporters.

 

She expressed concern that "people would be injured in the raid" because "those people are evil Satan worshipers," the warrant says.

 

The girl told her caseworker she "could not understand why her mother did not see how this was a bad thing," the warrant says. She also said her mother had stopped going to therapy about two months ago, the warrant says.

 

Abcug's daughter was subsequently removed from her custody and Abcug then failed to show up at an emergency custody hearing, canceled an interview set up with investigators and did not return their calls.

 

Following her arrest late last month, Abcug posted bond and is no longer in custody, according to PPD.

 

According to the warrant, Abcug was known to the PPD from a prior case where she was investigated for "factitious disorder imposed on another and medical child abuse." The victim, in that case, is redacted and the outcome of the investigation is not known.

I'm sure many anons have noticed the accounts with "(Text TRUMP to 88022)".

Most of them are blue checked, but there are many that aren't and they get retweeted by big accounts sometimes like Q+, Parscale, etc.

We could make a lot of those accounts that mostly post news and comment on things, but with subtle hints to Q.

For example:

-hashtags in the bio (one or two)

-Q related profile/banner pic

-in between retweets and tweets unrelated to Q, tweet and retweet Q related content

-etc

 

Not only would it help get the message out for Q+, but it could spread Q at the same time.

Study: Petroleum-Based Additives Are Being Heavily Used In Popular Children’s Foods & Candy

 

The Facts: A study published in the journal Clinical Pediatrics outlines the prevalence of artificial food coloring in a high percentage of foods sold at a conventional grocery store.

Reflect On: How often do you take the time to read food labels? In this day and age, if you want to be more health conscious it’s a necessary step to take.

 

Parents who wish to eliminate AFCs from their children’s diets face a challenge, as the current research found that about 4 in 10 packaged items in grocery store products marketed to children contain at least one AFC. Moreover, in some food categories almost all of the products contain AFCs, making it difficult for families to purchase those products without AFCs. Clinicians can educate parents about reading ingredient lists and avoiding certain products or categories, at least until companies implement policies to limit marketing of products containing AFCs. More effective, however, would be for the government to eliminate AFCs from all foods or, at the very least, require a warning notice on packages.

 

That’s the conclusion of a study that was published in the journal Clinical Pediatrics that examined artificial food colors in food. The study found these chemicals, which are dangerous to human health for short and long term health, in 96.3 percent of candies, 94 percent of fruit-flavoured snacks and 89.7 percent of drink mixes and powders. 43.2 percent of children’s and adult foods combined actually contain artificial colors, and fresh produce was the only food category not made with artificial colors, which means that some meat, dairy and baked products also contain fake color.

 

Shockingly, this may be the only study to document the percentage of child-oriented products with AFCs.

The most egregious class of additives is certainly artificial colors, for which a strong body of evidence exists linking them to direct harm to children’s nervous systems. Evidence that artificial colors can produce hyperactive behavior in children has already led European countries to require warning labels on foods containing these ingredients. In fact, the same companies that use artificial colors in children’s products in the U.S. typically use naturally based colors for the same products in Europe.

 

On food labels, watch out for anything labeled a “dye” — a synthetic, petroleum-based coloring chemical, or a “lake” — the same color, but reformulated to be water-insoluble for use in dry or fatty foods. According to Center for Science in the Public Interest, the best policy is to avoid all foods made with artificial colors, not just because of the potential for health risks, but because artificially colored foods are typically low in nutritional value.

 

In fact, AFCs were originally manufactured from coal tar, which comes from coal. Early critics of artificial food colorings were quick to point this out. Today, most synthetic food dyes are derived from petroleum, or crude oil. Some critics will argue that eating oil is no better than eating coal. (source)

Iran's FM Zarif barred from entering US to take part in UNSC meeting

 

Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif is being denied a US visa he had requested to enter the United States to participate in the UN Security Council meeting this week, Foreign Policy reports

 

A Washington-based diplomatic source told the publication on Monday that a Trump administration official phoned UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres on Monday to tell him that the United States would not allow Zarif into the country.

 

Earlier, a diplomatic source said that Iran’s mission to the United Nations had not received any official communication regarding the state of Zarif’s visa to enter the United States.

 

Zarif had planned to come to New York to address the Security Council on January 9 on the killing of Iranian top commander Qasem Soleimani.

 

Last week, Iranian Quds Force Commander Major General Qasem Soleimani was killed in a US drone strike ordered by US President Donald Trump at the Baghdad International Airport, with his assassination dramatically escalating tensions in the Middle East.

 

Iranian President Hassan Rouhani and Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei have pledged that Soleimani’s death would not go unavenged, in response to what they consider to be a US crime.

 

Trump has tweeted that the United States would strike over 50 Iranian targets, including high-level and cultural sites, if Iran retaliates for Soleimani’s death.

 

Tehran announced on Sunday that it would no longer abide by the uranium enrichment limitations agreed upon as part of the 2015 nuclear deal with France, Russia, China, Germany, the United Kingdom and the United States. Trump pulled out of the deal in 2018.

In a Jan. 4 email, field office staff at the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) were told Mexican nationals will be included in the populations “amenable” to the agreement with Guatemala. The agreement, brokered last July between the administration of Republican President Donald Trump and the outgoing Guatemalan government, allows U.S. immigration officials to send migrants requesting asylum at the U.S.-Mexican border to apply for protection in Guatemala instead.

 

Mexico objects to the plan, its foreign ministry said in a statement late on Monday, adding that it would be working with authorities to find “better options” for those that could be affected.

 

Trump has made clamping down on unlawful migration a top priority of his presidency and a major theme of his 2020 re-election campaign. His administration penned similar deals with Honduras and El Salvador last year.

 

U.S. Democrats and pro-migrant groups have opposed the move and contend asylum seekers will face danger in Guatemala, where the murder rate is five times that of the United States, according to 2017 data compiled by the World Bank. The country’s asylum office is tiny and thinly staffed and critics have argued it lacks the capacity to properly vet a significant increase in cases.

 

Guatemalan President-elect Alejandro Giammattei, who takes office this month, has said he will review the agreement. Acting Deputy U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Ken Cuccinelli said in a tweet in December that Mexicans were being considered for inclusion under the agreement.

 

USCIS referred questions to DHS, which referred to Cuccinelli’s tweet. Mexico’s foreign ministry did not immediately respond to requests for comment. Alejandra Mena, a spokeswoman for Guatemala’s immigration institute, said that since the agreement was implemented in November, the United States has sent 52 migrants to the country. Only six have applied for asylum in Guatemala, Mena said.

 

On Monday, an additional 33 Central American migrants arrived on a flight to Guatemala City, she said.

 

Unaccompanied minors cannot be sent to Guatemala under the agreement, which now applies only to migrants from Honduras, El Salvador and Mexico, according to the guidance documents. Exceptions are made if the migrants can establish that they are “more likely than not” to be persecuted or tortured in Guatemala based on their race, religion, nationality, membership in a particular social group, or political opinion.

 

Numbers of Central American migrants apprehended at the border fell sharply in the second part of 2019 after Mexico deployed National Guard troops to stem the flow, under pressure from Trump. Overall, border arrests are expected to drop again in December for the seventh straight month, a Homeland Security official told Reuters last week, citing preliminary data.

 

The U.S. government says another reason for the reduction in border crossings is a separate programme, known as the Migrant Protection Protocols, that has forced more than 56,000 non-Mexican migrants to wait in Mexico for their U.S. immigration court hearings.

 

With fewer Central Americans at the border, U.S. attention has turned to Mexicans crossing illegally or requesting asylum. About 150,000 Mexican single adults were apprehended at the border in fiscal 2019, down sharply from previous decades but still enough to bother U.S. immigration hawks.

Approximately 1,000 military personnel from eight states will be arriving in Hawaii for the Sentry Aloha exercises.

 

The Hawaii Air National Guard says there will be more military aircraft along Oahu’s South Shores, taking off from the Honolulu Airport.

 

The Aloha Sentry exercises allows for realistic combat training for the Air National Guard, U.S. Air Force, and other Department of Defense services.

 

It starts Wednesday and runs until Jan. 22.

Town of Wise, Virginia becomes latest Second Amendment Sanctuary

 

WISE , VA (WCYB) — The Town of Wise is the latest Virginia locality to approve a resolution declaring itself a 'Second Amendment Sanctuary.'

 

By a unanimous vote of five to zero, the town council "wishes to express its deep commitment to the rights of all citizens of the Town of Wise to keep and bear arms."

 

The resolution is directed at state lawmakers, urging them "to oppose the passage of any state laws that infringe upon the rights of the law-abiding citizens of the Commonwealth."

 

Councilwoman Laura Taylor-Baugh put forward the motion in support of residents concerned over gun control measures proposed by Governor Ralph Northam.

 

"It is to show solidarity for all of Southwest Virginia. Sometimes, a lot of people feel that Southwest Virginia is forgotten and that we do not have voices, so this is our way of saying we do have voice," says Taylor-Baugh.

 

Wise County declared itself a Second Amendment Sanctuary last month. About 100 Virginia cities and counties have approved similar resolutions.

 

But Vice Mayor, Theresa Adkins says the town needed an extra layer of safety.

 

"I think that people want to stand together as a force," says Adkins.

The ugly truth about viral image of bushfires from space

 

The scale of the bushfire disaster and the horrifying images emanating from Australia right now need no exaggeration – and yet, deliberately or not, images and claims have been circulating online that aren’t what they appear to be.

 

There have been numerous pictures, videos and claims spread online during this ongoing crisis that don’t stack up. Some appear to have been deliberately intended to spread falsehoods while others accidentally took on a life of their own on social media, with the underlying truth becoming lost along the way.

 

One of the latest is a widely shared composition image of satellite data purporting to show fire-affected areas for the past four weeks, with the 3D render of the image giving an exaggerated effect. However many have shared it believing it shows the scale of fires from space.

 

After it went viral, creator Anthony Hearsey, sought to clarify the true nature of the image.

 

“Didn’t realise this would go viral … This is a 3D visualisation of the fires in Australia. NOT A PHOTO. Think of this as a prettier looking graph,” he explained.

 

“This is made from data from NASA’s FIRMS (Satellite data regarding fires) between 05/12/19 - 05/01/20.

These are all the areas which have been affected by bushfires.

 

“Scale is a little exaggerated due to the render’s glow, but generally true to the info from the NASA website. Also note that NOT all the areas are still burning, and this is a compilation.”

 

Despite the clarification, it continued to be shared Tuesday morning including by celebrity Jason Momoa who posted it to his 14.4 million Instagram followers.

 

Another pair of images doing the rounds shows continental Australia being overlaid with the United States with an exaggerated number of fires burning. One has even been posted by America’s ABC News.

 

It follows a string of misinformation and misrepresentation online surrounding the bushfires.

 

An online petition this week which claimed a volunteer fire fighter who delivered an expletive-laden reproach to the Prime Minister could be stood down was completely untrue.

 

Also this week, UK media outlet The Sun shared a video of firefighter rejoicing in the field as rain falls. The only problem is the video is actually from November.

 

Earlier, a particularly harrowing photo of a mother and her children hiding in the water to escape 2013 fires in Tasmania was circulated as if it was from the current disaster.

 

At the more extreme end, some accounts, including online bots, have shared the more ludicrous conspiracy theory that environmentalists are lighting fires to further the agenda of climate action. While The Australian reported on Tuesday there has been 183 arrests made this fire season for arson, there has been no suggestion or evidence that any of them have been politically or ideologically motivated.

 

According to Dr Timothy Graham from Queensland’s University of Technology, there is a lot of bot and troll activity surrounding the #ArsonEmergency hashtag.

 

“Based on my analysis it appears that the bushfires have catapulted Australia into the global disinformation space, and the #ArsonEmergency hashtag is a prime example right now,” he told Yahoo News Australia.

 

The corrosive affect of false information

 

While misinformation is not a new problem, it can be a problem that goes global very quickly with the opaque and ubiquitous world of social media.

 

Aside from muddying the waters during the time of a crisis, the big problem is that it erodes the overall trust in information being disseminated under the catch-all term of media.

 

Dr Andrea Carson is an Associate Professor in the Department of Politics, Media and Philosophy at Melbourne’s La Trobe University and has researched the “weaponisation” of fake news and the changing nature of online misinformation.

 

She says there is a “direct correlation” between declining trust in media and the explosion of social media as a news source.

It is worth noting that Christopher Wylie, Cambridge Analytica whistleblower also worked for Trudeau’s Liberals.
