Just because you haven't heard about it, doesn't mean it doesn't exist.
Right now, they are making major breakthroughs, while attempting to conduct experiments testing the Electric Sun model, that was proposed decades ago. The transmutation of matter wasn't expected, at all. But it happened. Wouldn't doubt if some people already had an idea about this, but it would've remained highly classified, depending on who was funding said studies.

No. There are several studies that concluded there are numerous flaws with our dating methods, and they don't even reference the extreme catastrophes that are more than just a reoccurring thing in "mythology".
