Risks posed by naturally occurring outbreaks are only one concern. Recent

advances in synthetic biology and gene editing have reduced long-standing

barriers to entry for nefarious actors wishing to develop engineered biothreats.

Doing so no longer requires a detailed understanding of molecular biology, wet

lab skills, or access to live pathogens. The widespread availability and reduced

cost of DNA sequencing, and more importantly DNA synthesis, have made it

possible to reconstitute eradicated pathogens – U.S. and Canadian researchers

reported in 2017 that they had synthesized horsepox virus – and to create new

ones de novo. Advances in gene editing also open the way for direct modifications to the human genome and the construction of “gene drives” that override

traditional inheritance in offspring in ways that can propagate specific traits

and biological functions throughout an entire population.

There is currently a mismatch between the rapidity at which bio threats

can emerge and proliferate and the response time for developing and deploying effective countermeasures. Traditional biodefense technologies are

designed primarily to counter known pathogens, and even still, they require

long lead times to develop responses. If a successful countermeasure can

be created, it must then be mass-produced and stockpiled in preparation

for a large-scale emergency. This cycle is time-consuming enough for

known and predictable threats. It can be tragically slow when it comes

to unfamiliar pathogens, which can spread at pandemic scales before researchers can devise countermeasures.

Beyond human treatment experiences, pre-clinical Hemopurifier studies have validated the broad-spectrum capture of numerous viral threats. These include: Chikungunya, Dengue, West Nile and Zika virus, as well as Vaccinia and Monkey pox, which serve as models for human Smallpox infection. Specific to pandemic influenza threats, Aethlon has validated the capture of H5N1 avian flu, H1N1 swine flu, and the reconstructed 1918 influenza virus, which represents a model for the strain of influenza that killed an estimated 50 million victims in 1918 and 1919. In vitro studies of other viral threats are ongoing.

Vaccine design for severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus. He Y1, Jiang S. Author information Abstract Severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS) is an emerging infectious disease caused by a new coronavirus (SARS-CoV). Recent studies suggest that SARS-CoV is zoonotic and may have a broad host range besides humans. Although the global outbreak of SARS has been contained, there are serious concerns over its re-emergence and bioterrorism potential. As a part of preparedness, development of a safe and effective vaccine is one of the highest priorities in fighting SARS. A number of candidate vaccines, using a variety of approaches, are under development. The first vaccine tested in clinical trial is made from the inactivated form of SARS-CoV. Several live attenuated, genetically engineered or vector vaccines encoding the SARS-CoV spike (S) protein have been in pre-clinical studies. These vaccine candidates are effective in terms of eliciting protective immunity in the vaccinated animals. However, caution should be taken with the safety of whole virus or full-length S protein-based immunogens in humans because they may induce harmful immune or inflammatory responses. We propose to use the receptor-binding domain (RBD) of SARS-CoV S protein (residues 318–510) for developing a safe and effective subunit SARS vaccine, as it is not only a functional domain that mediates virus-receptor binding but also a major neutralization determinant of SARSCoV. It has been demonstrated that the RBD of SARS-CoV S protein contains multiple conformational epitopes capable of inducing highly potent neutralizing antibody responses and protective immunity. I actually put neosporin up my nostrils before going out in public. Apple cider vinegar/water and raw honey in juice glass every morn. No cold or virus for 3 years!

Israel–United States relations refers to the bilateral relationship between Israel and the United States. Since the 1960s the United States has been very strong supporter of Israel, and promoted good relations between Israel and Jordan, Lebanon and Egypt, while holding off the hostility from other Middle Eastern nations, especially Syria and Iran. The relations are a very important factor in the United States government's overall policy in the Middle East, and Congress has placed considerable importance on the maintenance of a close and supportive relationship.

In addition to financial and military aid, the United States also provides political support to Israel, having used its United Nations Security Council veto power 42 times with respect to resolutions relating to Israel, out of a total 83 times in which its veto has ever been used. Between 1991 and 2011, 15 vetos were used to protect Israel out of 24 in total. I say anyone the UN is against is worth supporting.
