I've been through so much shit in my life, if I wrote a book people would call me a damn liar. The pain I've been through both physical and mentally was more than I imagine a person could take. I looked death in the face multiple times, even survived cancer, it was one hit right after another. The totality of it all finally broke my will, I was tired, tired of fighting it. I ended up in a very dark and lonely place for years, I didn't care if I saw tomorrow or not.
But I came out the other side, found happiness in life again but it changed me completely and I look at life differently than ever before. I'm very slow to anger, life is full of small shit that's not even worth a second of my time, I just walk on past it. Life is only one last breath away, if you embrace that fact and don't fear it, you'll look at life more clearly then ever before and you'll become calm, at peace.
Above all else there is Love
Love is what life is all about, the rest is just noise and filler.
I'm here for the ride, happy to be here with you, I know the future will be wonderful, hope I make it to the end with you but that's not up to me. Regardless with or without me the path to the future is already set, we are watching a movie.
Ignore the noise anon's, it's just fill, it really is, just walk past it. Embrace the Love of your fellow man, it is all around you, past all that noise and it's growing every day, keep your eye on the road ahead and you'll see it, and the noise will fall to the side.
One way or the other, nothing can stop what's coming. And if I don't make it there with you, I'll meet you one day on the other side with arms wide open.
Let peace fill your heart.

Thank You anon, I am at peace. Looking at life from that 40K foot view Q talks about. It;s true, God doesn't give us any more than we can handle, those days were my lessons. As bad as they were, you know it was something I had to go through to get here so yeah, price paid, it was worth it. Now I see clearly, a true gift ;-)

Wow, I am so sorry for your friend and absolutely I'll keep him in my prayers.
He's going to need you anon, keep him close and pour your Love onto him.
One of my lessons was realizing, no matter how dark my life was, there is always others who have it worse then you do, and they manage to get up and dust themselves off so I guess I could too.
Hug your friend for me and let him know he has brothers and sisters out there praying for him and he is well Loved. Take care of yourself too.

Here's something I had to do, wipe your plate clean of needless things to worry about. Right now be selfish and take care of yourself. When times are better then you can once again help others but for now you first. You can't help others if you don't take care of yourself first.

Amen fren, one of the many lessons I had to learn. I learned that anger for how bad my life was, it was just like a bad of rocks I was carrying around, all I had to do was set it down and leave it behind me.
Happiness IS a choice, so is staying in anger. The hard part is learning not to react to the bad stuff, after a while, just like learning to ride a bike it just becomes 2nd nature. You learn to just look right past it, no more being triggered by unimportant stuff, I call it just "filler" in life. It's such a peaceful place once you get there! ;-)

Tossing idea's out there, maybe other anon's have idea's to help get some short term cash, try reaching out to social services, anons, chime in, don't they have emergency funding? Maybe the red cross? How about a preacher? Ask each one of them if they have advice of who might be able to help. God helps in many ways, we also have meet him half way and help yourself too, he will put you where you need to be but you've got to make some moves, they won't just call you.
I wouldn't want to give up my dog either, man I understand that! How about finding someone who would care for him until you're back on your feet? Call the SPCA and kennels, explain the situation, they know tons of pet lovers and I'm sure they can put feelers out. That way you're not giving him up, you'll actually be helping him too, I'm sure you could visit him.
Bottom line friend, put the pride aside and reach out, there are lots of people who been where you are and will be more than happy to help you they way others helped them, but you have to reach out. Just do it, call it the first step to change your life, don't give up, keep reaching out till you find the help God is sending you, get back in control and make the moves!
