Unless it's deerskin or elkskin, ANY MOISTURE AT ALL would cause the skins to contract, unless specially treated for wet use.

 

Blood is wet, until it's not.

 

So, water resistant dress gloves would be totally normal choice for Southern California. (eyeroll) Also what happens when lawyers never, ever work with their hands, outside, in chit conditions.
