Three Rivers Schools closing after nearly 600 students call in sick, school officials say
HAMILTON COUNTY, Ohio —
Three Rivers Local School District in Cleves is closing Thursday and Friday after nearly 600 students called out due to illness over the past few days, the district's superintendent said.
School officials said the number of absences related to the cold or flu have been rising each day. After talking with health officials, they have decided to close the school district Thursday and Friday.

School officials said it's best to close the school to prevent anyone else from getting sick.
During the closure, a custodial team will disinfect and sanitize the campus while students rest at home, school officials said.
All after-school events will also be canceled starting at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday.
"Although our goal is to protect as much instructional time as possible, we also need to do everything we can to ensure our students and staff are healthy and in the best environment to foster learning," school officials said on the district's website.
No staff, students or visitors will be allowed on campus with the exception of the custodial staff, officials said.
