Terrorists, Iran and…WikiLeaks? US counter-intel agency puts ‘public disclosure groups’ on same threat list as Al-Qaeda & ISIS

The US National Counterintelligence and Security Center has warned in its latest report “public disclosure organizations” and hackers are dire spy threats on the level of Islamic State terrorists, Al-Qaeda, and Iran.

“Ideologically motivated entities such as hacktivists, leaktivists, and public disclosure organizations” pose “significant threats” to the US at the same level as non-state terrorist organizations like Islamic State (IS, formerly ISIS/ISIL) and Al-Qaeda, according to the Office of the Director of National Intelligence’s biannual National Counterintelligence Strategy report, released on Monday.

Sanders Dodges on Unfulfilled Promise to Release Medical Records

Sen. Bernie Sanders (I., Vt.) on Sunday waved away concerns about his unfulfilled promise to disclose his medical records before the first votes were cast this election cycle.

NBC's Meet the Press anchor Chuck Todd pushed the presidential candidate on his promise last September to release his full records. Sanders at the time said he would release full medical documentation before the first votes were cast—a deadline that, with Iowa's Democratic caucus last Monday, has now passed.

Sanders demurred, claiming that "we have released as much documentation I think as any other candidate."

"But no other candidate has had a heart attack," Todd told Sanders.

Does Turkey have a role to play in the new world order?

Turkey’s economic crisis connects it to other emerging markets in an era of mobile international capital, while its new political leadership and structures under Recep Tayyip Erdogan make it a key player in the multipolar world they seek to fashion. Current travails put it at the centre of contemporary geoeconomic and geopolitical change.

The period since then saw him shift from this substantive programme towards perpetuating his power in office. The economic momentum he established in the first decade facilitated that, giving him legitimacy with his supporters in Anatolia and Istanbul sufficient to push through the extensive presidential reforms he is implementing since the referendum last year and his election victory last month.

Turkey’s economic problems flow from its over-reliance on capital inflows and its $220 billion corporate debt mainly to Spanish, German and Italian banks. A looming balance of payments crisis is caused by the collapse of its currency the lira, which has lost 45 per cent of its value against the dollar this year. Erdogan has refused to raise interest rates to head that off, spooking international markets and raising fears of capital controls. The question is whether the standoff will force company closures and civil protest before exports gain from such a precipitate devaluation.

BREAKING: Biden Abruptly Pulls Out Of New Hampshire As Support Sags, Flees To SC

Joe Biden took his ball and went home.

The former vice president on Tuesday suddenly announced that he was bailing from New Hampshire, where polls show him running in fourth or even fifth place. Biden said he will leave right away and not spend primary night in the state. Instead, he’s heading to South Carolina to “headline a newly scheduled kick-off rally in the state he’s long considered his campaign firewall,” Fox News reports.

“We’re going to head to South Carolina tonight,” Biden told reporters. “And I’m going to Nevada… we’ve got to look at them all.”

Air Force to retire 44 legendary A-10 Warthogs

The U.S. Air Force is set to retire 44 of A-10 Warthogs in the next fiscal year, according to the fiscal 2021 Air Force budget documents the Trump administration sent to Congress on Monday.

After years of plans to further their usage in the military, the Department of Defense is trimming the number of older aircraft which includes the legendary Cold-War era planes, Military.com reported.

The move in its entirety is reportedly set to free hundreds of billions of dollars for newer planes as tensions between the United States, Russia and China are on the rise.

However, the Air Force awarded a contract to Boeing in August worth $1 billion to produce upgrades to the A-10 Warthogs. At the time, that decision had officials believing the A-10 Warthogs would be in service for the next decade, Defense One reported.

“[W]e are moving in the direction that we need to go after looking at our last few years doing land wars and now looking forward to a higher-end fight against an adversary that will have a higher capability,” the Joint Staff director of force structure, resources and assessment, Vice Adm. Ronald Boxall, said during a Monday briefing at the Pentagon, as Defense One reported.
