JoAnna Wasserman, Michael Marando

JoAnna Wasserman and Michael John Marando were married Saturday evening at Meridian House in Washington. Rainey R. Brandt, a District of Columbia Superior Court magistrate judge, officiated.

 

Ms. Wasserman, 36, is keeping her name. She is the manager of education initiatives at the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum in Washington. She graduated from the University of Pennsylvania and received a master's in museum education from George Washington University.

 

She is a daughter of Donna Wasserman and Mark L. Wasserman of Baltimore. The bride’s father is the senior vice president for external affairs with the University of Maryland Medical System.

 

Mr. Marando, 37, is an assistant United States attorney in Washington. He graduated from Cornell, from which he also received a law degree.

 

He is the son of Irene L. Marando and Eugene J. Marando of Buffalo. The groom’s father retired as an administrator with the Buffalo public school system.

The reports cite a classified CIA history to underpin the allegations, some of which date back at least to 1992, when one of Crypto’s employees was arrested and held in Iran for nine months as a suspected spy.

 

At the time, the company dismissed reports that it was a secret asset of Western intelligence agencies as “an unbelievable conspiracy theory”, according to a report in German magazine Focus detailing a 1994 book on the subject.

 

In 1995, the Baltimore Sun also reported on Crypto AG’s close ties to the U.S. National Security Agency.
