>FDR KNOWINGLY allowed the attack on Pearl Harbor to get the US engaged in the WW2 'war in the Pacific'.

History fag hereโ€ฆ a bit debatable on "allowing" the attack to happen. But possible.

I'm a bit divided on FDR and WW2. America at the time was for the most part a volunteer army. When war was announced is when the plow shares would be laid down for rifles. FDR and the gang saw America's potential as a militaristic force, but the population was not in anyway geared towards that. This presented a problem as the other world powers, Japan, Germany, England and etcโ€ฆ were all ready for war at the drop of a hat. FDR and the boys in D.C. at the time felt for America to survive in the future they needed a standing army as well. I have say I agree. I'd rather have a country that does the hitting than the one being hit. Conversely, since FDR our rural idyllic way of life has been traded in for one of bombs and might.

Double edged sword FDR had. Damned if he left us on the farms, and certainly damned for launching a war machine that has yet to stop.
