Judge in Roger Stone case orders Tuesday phone hearing

The judge overseeing longtime Trump adviser Roger Stone’s trial ordered both the defense and prosecution to appear at a phone hearing Tuesday after all four Justice Department prosecutors withdrew from the case.

U.S. District Court Judge Amy Berman Jackson ordered the hearing Sunday following the prosecutors’ withdrawal, which came after Attorney General Bill Barr overrode their recommendation of a seven- to nine-year sentence, Politico reported.

The withdrawal sparked accusations of political interference, particularly in light of President Trump’s tweets condemning Stone’s prosecution. Barr has denied Trump asked him to intervene but said in an interview last week that Trump tweeting about Justice Department matters was making his job more difficult.

Stone is set for sentencing Thursday on seven felony counts including lying to investigators and witness tampering. Whether the sentencing will proceed as planned remains unclear after Stone’s lawyers moved for a new trial. Johnson rejected an earlier such motion in 2019.

On Friday, Jackson issued an order for the Justice Department to respond to the latest new trial motion, which is still sealed, by Tuesday at midnight, the publication reports. She has made no indication of any plans to inquire further into the prosecutors’ withdrawal despite the urging of some former DOJ prosecutors.

So if all 4 prosecutors are no longer part of this case, then how can a meeting occur? Is DOJ sending in a backup team? Based on the Barr interview, it doesn't sound like they'll just dismiss this and let him go after getting a conviction, but what could the motion be that was sealed on Tuesday before everything happened? Drew Carey's ex-fiancee, Dr. Amie Harwick, has been murdered after cops say an ex-boyfriend attacked and caused her to fall from a third story balcony.

Law enforcement sources say they got a call early Saturday morning of a woman screaming in a Hollywood Hills neighborhood. Cops were met in the street by Harwick's roommate who said she was being assaulted inside her home.

We're told once officers attempted to get inside Harwick's home, they found her unresponsive underneath a third story balcony with injuries consistent with a fall. Harwick was taken to a hospital where she later died from her injuries.

Commenting on the recently released UN Yemen panel report, which concluded that Houthi forces were “unlikely” responsible for the bombing since the operation was too “complex” and the “estimated” range of weaponry the militants supposedly possess would not have allowed for such launches from the rebel-held territory, the US mission recycled its allegations framing the report’s findings as a foregone conclusion.

“Iran attacked Saudi Arabian oil facilities on September 14, 2019. It was an attack not only against a sovereign state but against the global economy as well,” the note bluntly states.

Firing back, Tehran pointed out that “nothing in that report validates the US allegation, which has already been rejected by Iran.”

The report does not name Iran as the culprit in the strikes. Moreover, the experts admitted that they did not have a chance to see the debris of the weapons that allegedly hit the facilities first-hand at the scenes as they had been partially cleaned up by Riyadh by the time they arrived.

If you've followed public debate over sex work and trafficking in recent decades, you've probably seen some variation on this sentence: "The average age of entry into prostitution is 13."

Statistics have a reputation for being dull, but this one packs a punch. In only nine words, it conjures up a story worthy of Dickens. Hear that statistic, and you can't help but imagine the faces of children, as fragile and guileless as porcelain dolls; you imagine, too, the fear on those faces, and the violence that will be done to them to feed the greed and perverted desires of figures lurking in the shadows. Those nine words tell you that this is not a story that is the exception, but rather, the norm in the industry. A person would have to have a rare degree of monstrousness not to feel their heart break, just a little, on hearing such cruelty described so starkly.

Except for one thing: There is little basis for the claim that 13—or 12, as is sometimes asserted—is the age that most sex workers begin working in prostitution.

It's hard to pin down where exactly the age-of-entry claim originated, partly because it's so often repeated without a citation or context, but also because it's become such a ubiquitous part of sexual politics. "I can't really remember a time when I didn't see it used, so I think it's been in circulation for quite a while," says Audacia Ray, of the Red Umbrella Project in New York. "And it's definitely used really broadly and without citation."

Thinking of Sex Work as Work

Most organizations, if they refer to a source at all, reference a study released in 2001: The Commercial Sexual Exploitation of Children in the U. S., Canada and Mexico, by Richard J. Estes and Neil A. Weiner.

As such studies go, it was a pretty extensive one. Estes and Weiner covered 17 major cities in the United States, four in Canada, and seven in Mexico. But the data samples they wrangled up with weren't very large. They sent out 1,130 surveys to various organizations that dealt with abused and exploited children in the target cities. Of those, 288 came back completed—a 25.5 percent response rate. Most of the organizations just didn't have the information that Estes and Weiner were looking for: "Difficulty in accessing information concerning the number of sexually exploited children in their care was one of the factors cited by many agencies for not completing the formal questionnaire," the report says.

They also did interviews directly with children, both on the streets and in the custody of law enforcement or social services. Here, the information collected was even sparser; in 17 major U.S. cities, they interviewed a total of 210 children.

The age-of-entry statistic seems to originate in a quote on page 92 of the report, summarizing the data from those 210 interviews:

Average age of first intercourse for the children we interviewed was 12 years for the boys (N=63) and 13 years for the girls (N=107). The age range of entry into prostitution for the boys, including gay and transgender boys, was somewhat younger than that of the girls, i.e., 11-13 years vs. 12-14 years, respectively. The average age of first intercourse among minority boys and girls was younger than that of the non-minority youth we interviewed, i.e., 10-11 years of age for minority boys and 11-12 years of age for minority girls.

Since then, that single paragraph has morphed into something much shorter and much different. The Estes and Weiner passage isn't a conclusion about sex workers at large, or even abused and exploited children; it is a description only of their sample group. But for almost 15 years, governmental and non-profit organizations have turned to it to make broader claims about people who work in the sex trades and how they came to be there.

Most current government and nonprofit policies on sex work define their goals as “rescue,” which makes perfect sense if the age-of-entry statistic is central to your understanding of the sex industry. Child abuse and trafficking are crises that require certain types of interventions. But these crimes do not characterize the sex industry more generally. In reality, many sex workers come into the industry as adults and without coercion, often because of economic necessity. By seeing the sex industry through the lens of the misleading age-of-entry statistic, we overlook the people who are most affected by discussions about sex work—the workers themselves.

One of the strongest and most thorough critics of the statistic is activist Emi Koyama. Koyama says that even when applied only to underage subjects, the stat doesn't hold up, which does a disservice to the most vulnerable in our society.

"It conceals the reality that most of the young people in the sex trade come from families affected by poverty, racism, abuse (including homophobia and transphobia in families), parental imprisonment or deportation, or from broken child welfare systems, and do not have safe places to return to," she told me in an interview. By treating them as innocent and helpless 'children,' we fail to listen to the young people who are struggling to survive in hostile circumstances. Even by mathematical standards, the numbers don't add up. In order for 12 or 13 to represent the national average age of entry, there would need to be a significant number who enter at ages younger than that. "The vast majority of young people who are 'rescued' by the law enforcement during Operation Cross Country sweeps are 16- and 17-year olds," Koyama says, "and there are rarely any under the age 13… For the average age to be around 13, there needs to be many more 5-12 year olds that are forced into prostitution than are empirically plausible." If the massive numbers of children exist in quantities enough to offset those who enter in their late teens or as adults, they’re not showing up in the arrests made by the Federal government, even high-profile ones like Operation Cross Country.

In addition, Koyama says, the age of entry statistic flatters Americans that their own communities are safe, while playing on the fear of outsiders: "It gives the impression that children were safe until 'bad people' came into their communities to take them away, and therefore we must arrest and prosecute these 'bad people' (often racialized)."

Researcher and activist Melissa Ditmore agrees with Koyama that the statistic is invalid: "This has been debunked but no one will let go of it," she says. "They used to say 13, now they say 12. If that's the average age, we'd see people younger than that in the business, and I have not ever met pre-adolescent children selling sex."

But the biggest problem with the claim is that it automatically remakes any discussion about sex work into its own image. When you start the conversation believing that prostitution is rooted in the rape of children, any suggestion that sex workers can be adults who have made an economic choice sounds like an attempt to provide cover for the rapists. "It distorts the dialogue because it's a very narrow view of how the sex industry functions," Audacia Ray says. "It also means the impulse is that all people are in the sex industry are victims of their situation who are disempowered and have no autonomy and no other skills. That's really damaging. And also, when you treat a whole population as victims, that very process is victimizing because it takes away agency and individual narratives about how they got there."

Kristina Dolgin, a former sex worker and activist with the San Francisco chapter of the Sex Workers Outreach Project (SWOP-Bay) agrees: "By framing the discourse around sex work—and prostitution specifically—around children, you are taking away the agency of people and instilling a moral panic."

The result is policies that are ostensibly intended to help people in the sex industries, but are created and implemented without input from the workers themselves. As an example, Dolgin points to the CASE Act (Californians Against Sexual Exploitation), which was voted into law in the 2012 elections as Proposition 35. The law expanded the definition of human trafficking much more broadly than previously existing guidelines to include virtually anyone gaining financial benefit from someone else's sex work. "It does not differentiate between the various kinds of people engaging in the work," Dolgin says. "Human trafficking could incorporate a manager, it could incorporate staff, it could incorporate a friend who is looking out for your safety, it could incorporate partners who are sharing a living space with you—there is no statutory end to that definition."

Although the rhetoric of advocates depicted the CASE act as a tool that would improve the lives of people in the sex industries, it was strongly opposed by sex-worker activists. It was, however, endorsed by a long list of law-enforcement organizations, like the California Statewide Law Enforcement Association and the Fraternal Order of Police. In the end, Proposition 35 passed with an overwhelming majority of 81.1 percent.

More recently, in June, 2014, the FBI raided and shut down a well-known website in the Bay Area called "MyRedbook" that hosted ads from escorts and massage parlors. Press coverage of the raid claimed the site was "linked" to trafficking and child prostitution. The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children issued a press release congratulating the FBI: "We know that one of the main ways children are sold for sex in this country is via the Internet," President and CEO John Ryan said. "We are very encouraged by all of the efforts to help stop the online sex trafficking of children and help survivors reclaim their lives." Al Serrato, an assistant D.A. in San Mateo County, was quoted in the San Francisco Chronicle praising the operation as a great step for preventing exploitation: "In my experience prosecuting these types of cases, the site is associated with the setting up of dates that often involve women who are being exploited or are victims of human trafficking," he said. "I view it as a positive development that the federal authorities were able to take such strong action against it."

However, neither of the two owners, Eric Omuro and Annmarie Lanoce, has been charged for trafficking offenses; the indictment against them lists 24 charges of money laundering and one charge of "facilitating prostitution." The response of the local sex-worker community was not one of relief or gratitude; instead, most saw the loss of MyRedbook as a catastrophe. Not only did the raid eliminate an important source of income, it also eliminated some of the workers' best tools for keeping themselves safe.

"[T]here was a whole section of [MyRedbook] that was chat rooms and forums," says Shannon Williams, a sex worker who is also active with SWOP-Bay. "Some for clients, and then a whole bunch for sex workers. And that's really important for sex workers because the vast majority really work in a very solitary way. They work alone, they don't tell anyone in their lives, so their friends and family don't know and other people don't know. They may hold down straight jobs and they're just moonlighting in the sex industry, so no one knows what they do, they're very isolated. As you can imagine, for the kind of work it is, that's an unhealthy way to work, and it's lonely. So Redbook, and a site that was linked to it called MyPinkbook, created a community for these sex workers who didn't have community in real life." The community didn't just give emotional support to people who couldn't find it anywhere else; workers also exchanged information about dangerous clients and tips about how to keep themselves safe from predators and law enforcement. They were also able to screen clients based on references from people who had seen the client before. [part 3]

First Asian American sheriff in California vows to protect immigrants from Trump policies

SAN FRANCISCO — The first Asian American sheriff in California history walks over to a closet inside his City Hall office to stow some equipment, then takes a seat behind a large desk. He extends his arms, fingers interlaced.

“So,” Sheriff Paul Miyamoto says casually as if to imply that he isn’t sure what all the fuss is about. “What would you like to know?”

On the one hand, as the son of a Japanese American father and a Chinese American mother and the husband of a Filipino American wife, Miyamoto is well aware his election represents an inspirational milestone for a new generation of Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders, a broad group often referred to by the acronym AAPI.

On the other, as a 23-year department veteran who was sworn in last month as San Francisco County’s 37th sheriff in 150 years, Miyamoto sees his rise up through the ranks simply as a result of hard work in his beloved profession.

“Being the first sheriff of my heritage is humbling, and it gives me a sense of responsibility to be a role model,” he says. “But what I’d really like is for us to never have any more firsts. I’d like us to be on an equal footing. Hopefully, I’m a step on that path.”

The election of a new sheriff with a familiar immigrant backstory has particular resonance these days.

President Donald Trump and his administration have not only taken a hard stance toward immigration broadly but also have clashed with so-called sanctuary cities such as San Francisco, where lawmakers and advocates have pledged to resist the sweeps of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers on the grounds that they are unconstitutional.

Miyamoto says he is foremost a law enforcement officer duty-bound to deliver on the civic promise of public safety. But he says he is also a proud product of a city that has a long history of helping immigrants and people of color, and is eager to balance both.

"San Francisco is very forward-thinking in terms of social justice issues, including the clashes with the federal government these days," he says. "My predecessors have set the foundation in this office, which means reflecting the values we have here. Supporting sanctuary cities and the like, and ensuring people are equal in terms of how they're treated."

Miyamoto says when considering "who we hand over to the federal government," he won't hesitate to take a hard look at anyone with a violent history. But he refuses to let his deputies act in a manner that demonizes people because of their ethnicity.

“I don’t want to see anything happen in line with what happened to my own family and my cultural group,” he says, referring to the internment during World War II of 120,000 Americans of Japanese ancestry largely out west. “I don’t want to see citizens of our community behind barbed wire simply because of who they are.”

That attitude is bound to be a boon to San Francisco's immigrant community, says Bill Ong Hing, professor at the University of San Francisco School of Law and director of the Immigration and Deportation Defense Clinic, which represents unaccompanied immigrant children as well as families who are in removal proceedings.

"A lot of sex workers I've talked to are really devastated by the loss of Redbook, because they've lost their online community," Williams says. "They've lost this way to share information that made them feel safer, and the reference system doesn't work as well when you don't known where the reference is coming from."

At its heart, the reality of sex work is rather dull and pedestrian. The main reason that people go into sex work is neither because of predatory gangsters, nor to indulge some uncontrollable nymphomania: It's all about money. It's about the need to pay your rent, put gas in your car, and buy groceries. Like becoming a waitress, a store clerk, a plumber, or a mechanic, going into sex work is driven by the economics of everyday life. If we were start to think of it as being primarily about work instead of sex, the headlines would quickly become much less sensational. "I think that media coverage needs to be less of a dichotomy between people who freely and happily choose the sex industry and people who are coerced into the sex industry," Ray says. "Because there's a vast gray area of economic circumstances in between. Economic circumstances are the reason most people enter the sex industry. I think coverage and conversations about that need to be much more complex."

The age-of-entry statistic continues to hold its grip on the public imagination in part because mainstream society can't imagine it being any other way. Why would anyone sell sex unless they were coerced or suffered such extreme trauma that they lost all self-respect?

"I have talked to people who really, really chose to do it. They thought about it for a while, it felt like it was something that was really intriguing and fun to them, and they chose it even though there were other options," Williams says. "But for most people, I think it's a quick fix to a financial problem. And so most people, I think, go into sex work because it fits their current needs. Maybe they can't work a 9-to-5 job because they're in school, or they have young children so they need a really flexible job. That's why I started doing sex work. I was in school, and I had a child, and I needed something that I could work nights. I think that a lot of people do sex work for the time that they need this flexible situation, and then as soon as they're done with school, or their children are now in school, or whatever the initial situation was is over, they move on to another job."

Of course, some people do get stuck in prostitution when they really want to move on. Just like any other field, there are people working crappy, unrewarding jobs in the sex industry. The irony of sex work, however, is that the same legal policies and social stigma that drive "rescue" efforts often make it difficult for people to transition into a regular job. Williams herself isn't trying to stop doing sex work, but if she was, her options are much more limited than they once were.

In 2003, Williams was teaching high school in Berkeley, California, when she was arrested on a misdemeanor charge of soliciting prostitution. She was never convicted, but simply having a rap sheet ended not only her job at Berkeley High, but any chance that she would ever teach again. Even in Berkeley, with its reputation for radical bohemianism, a prostitute isn't considered fit to teach the community's children.

The stories of sex workers like Williams are never straightforward or easy. They aren’t contained by the narratives we’ve been told about ravished children or liberated outlaws. For those of us who write about sex workers and those who make laws that determine their lives, they are a reminder of our responsibility:

‘INESCAPABLE REALITY’: Holden axed in Australia after 160-year history

Holden will be axed in Australia at the end of 2020.

This comes just three years after the end of local manufacturing and the lowest monthly sales since it was established in 1948 – as US car giant General Motors gets out of right-hand-drive markets globally.

Although Holden had been posting record low sales – which led to the end of the Commodore and Astra models late last year – the announcement has still come as a shock to industry veterans now the brand has lost its final lifeline.

General Motors will also close its Melbourne design studio and test track at Lang Lang on the south-east outskirts of Melbourne. ‘We’ll Make Skyscrapers of Skulls Out of Russian Army’: Envoy to Turkey Reveals Threats He’s Gotten

Earlier this week, the ambassador revealed that the recent rise in tensions between Moscow and Ankara over Russian support for Syria in Idlib had led to threats being made against his life, recalling that the last crisis in relations between the two countries led to the assassination of his predecessor by a Turkish radical.

Russian Ambassador to Turkey Alexei Yerkhov has expanded on his earlier comments about the threats he and embassy staff have had to deal with in recent days, stressing that while he does not take them to heart, they’re unacceptable because he is a representative of Russia.

“As far as the threats are concerned, we’ve discussed them at length, and even publicized the most odious ones. Among the last which we’ve received last night and this morning are comments such as ‘We’ll build skyscrapers out of the skulls of your army’, and ‘You’ll pay the price for every drop of blood you shed’, and so on,” Yerkhov said, speaking to Zvezda on Sunday.

The ambassador noted that he could not help but treat this subject with the utmost seriousness, since it’s not simply a matter of threats against himself.

“Someone may say that this is a case of people letting off some steam and moving on, someone else may say this is democratic. It’s hard to disagree with these viewpoints. But at the same time such actions are unacceptable, because we’re not talking about the embassy or the ambassador, but about Russia and all of its representatives,” Yerkhov stressed.

“Why are the threats unacceptable? Because threats against Russia in themselves are a factor in the radicalization of public sentiment – they are read and accepted. Those who write them may not be fully aware of it, but they are starting a chain reaction of xenophobia, anger and hatred which can find a real-world manifestation. Many experts have recalled that the information and propaganda situation emerging in recent days is reminiscent of the one which reigned five years ago, and we all remember how that ended,” the ambassador warned, referring to the 2015 murder of Russian ambassador Andrei Karlov in Ankara in late 2016 in the wake of the crisis in Russian-Turkish relations following the 2015 Turkish shootdown of a Russian aircraft over Syria.

According to Yerkhov, he is worried least of all about his personal security. Praising Turkish authorities for the professionalism they’ve shown in protecting him, he stressed that everything possible must be done to prevent inciting anger, hate and hostility between Turks and Russians, because it’s impossible to protect all employees of foreign organizations or to isolate all Russian nationals in Turkey.

At the same time, the diplomat suggested that the current tensions “could threaten the entire complex of Russian-Turkish relations…which was painstakingly constructed by the efforts of tens of thousands of people, starting with our countries’ presidents, who made a considerable personal contribution to the development of these bilateral relations.”

On Saturday, the Russian Foreign Ministry said it expected Turkey to do everything in its power to ensure the safety of Russian diplomats and tourists in the country. Earlier, Turkish media reported that a group of teen vandals had desecrated twenty Christian graves at Ortakoy cemetery in Ankara, including the graves of Russian immigrants.

Relations between Russia and Turkey cooled this week following the deaths of over half a dozen Turkish troops in a Syrian artillery strike in Idlib, Syria. The attack escalated into a shooting war between Syrian and Turkish forces, with Ankara threatening a full-scale offensive if Syrian troops didn’t withdraw from the de-escalation zone. Moscow has accused Ankara of failing to live up to its commitments to separate moderate opposition fighters from terrorist militants, and has warned against further escalations. Syria, which launched its Idlib operation in December following repeated attacks on its forces, has said that it will continue to conduct anti-terrorist operations in Idlib and elsewhere in Syrian territory regardless of Turkish threats to intervene.

Trump Is Already Making Stuff Up About Voter Fraud

Bloomberg Opinion) – While candidates jostle for advantage in the Democratic presidential primary, and the news media play the odds, President Donald Trump already knows the identity of his opponent. Indeed, his campaign, with the full support of the Republican Party, is already waging a vigorous crusade to destroy his opposition. No, it’s not Joe Biden, who inspired Trump’s shakedown of Ukraine. Trump’s gunning for bigger game: democracy itself.

The Democratic Party is not prepared for this war. The news media is still struggling, and often failing, to adapt to demagogy. And the electorate, at least the non-MAGA majority invested in preserving rule of law, has limited tools for fighting back. As election law expert Richard Hasen notes in “Election Meltdown,” his alarming new book about the threats to U.S. elections, mitigating risk is “especially challenging when one of the greatest risks to the integrity of the process comes from the sitting president of the United States.”

The assault will have multiple fronts. Trump’s disinformation campaign is, obviously, under way, to the extent that there is any meaningful distinction between the words “Trump” and “disinformation.” The news media, like many Americans, have become acculturated to Trump’s lies and to the lies of his accomplices and defenders. The Washington Post keeps a running tab, now well above 16,000, of the president’s public falsehoods. Does anyone notice anymore?

Democracy takes place largely in public communication; it can’t function without reasonably honest discourse. Trump’s daily dose of propaganda and smears badly corrodes an already weakened democratic faith, rendering it less resistant to his subsequent assaults.

As November approaches, Trump plans to complement corrosive rhetoric with concrete action. In the words of one Trump campaign official, the GOP will be playing “offense” on Election Day. This will entail something more than Trump’s efforts in 2016. Then, Trump closed out his campaign with sinister threats about voter fraud. In an October, 2016 rally in Pennsylvania, he told his MAGA followers: “So important that you watch other communities, because we don’t want this election stolen from us.” In Akron, Ohio, he told a MAGA crowd that they needed to “watch” the vote.

“And when I say ‘watch,’ you know what I’m talking about,” Trump continued. “Right? You know what I’m talking about.” His white followers knew.

Trump made preposterous claims of fraud after his 2016 victory. Just this week, Trump was in New Hampshire falsely claiming that he lost the state in 2016 due to fraud. He is sure to yell “fraud” if he loses in November. Then what?

Hasen considers other potential nightmare scenarios, including an Election Day power outage in a Democratic city in a swing state, sabotaging the Democratic vote. “As much as Democrats worry that Trump won’t concede a close election if he can raise unsubstantiated claims of voter fraud,” Hasen wrote, “what will Democrats do if they are on the losing side of a close election that they can credibly claim was marked by efforts of voter suppression?”

The choice in that case is to accept that the election was stolen, and accept Trump’s ensuing assault on democracy and rule of law, or plunge the nation into an electoral civil war with no clear endgame. The terminus of any legal process is a very Trumpy Supreme Court.

Despite Republican obstruction of election-security legislation, U.S. election administrators can take steps to protect the 2020 election from foreign hacking; many have done so. Social media companies, if they accept their responsibility to the democratic culture that helped nurture them, could curb Russian bots and curtail propaganda.

To protect American democracy from Trump himself, however, is a more demanding task. It will require an unflinching news media meeting an authoritarian challenge that it has thus far largely failed to acknowledge. It will require a vigilant electorate, mindful of its own democratic imagination, prepared to take public action not just on the day of the vote but after. And it may well require a hefty helping of luck. America used to have an abundant supply. Let’s hope it hasn’t run out.

With the US providing approximately $35 billion in economic aid to 142 countries around the world in 2014, Amoros explains that his map is meant to show "the relative size of each country…proportionate to the aid received from the United States," with the color of each country indicating GDP per capita, from dark red ($866-$4,999) to blue ($30,000 or more).

As the figures brought to life by the map show, Israel is the only country to receive aid with a GDP of more than $30,000. And it gets a lot — $3.1 billion worth. Poland, Kazakhstan, Chile, Argentina and Uruguay are the only other relatively wealthy countries (with GDP per capita of between $20,000-30,000) to receive US economic assistance, getting more modest sums, ranging from $500,000 (Argentina and Uruguay) to $16 million (Poland).

Along with Israel, which received roughly 9% of total US economic aid in 2014, other countries to make the top five include Egypt ($1.5 billion), Afghanistan ($1.1 billion), Jordan ($1 billion), and Pakistan ($933 million).

Amoros also discovered, looking at the US State Department report explaining the US's 2013-2015 foreign aid program, that the entirety of Israel's $3.1 billion in funding was used for military purposes. In Egypt, similarly, a whopping $1.3 of the $1.5 billion total was also used for military-related activities.

In fact, according to the State Department, a full 17%, or $5.9 billion of all US government aid was used to finance foreign military spending, with 24% ($8.4 billion) used toward global health programs, $4.6 billion (13%) for economic assistance, and $2.5 billion (7%) for development assistance.

I'm a bit divided on FDR and WW2. America at the time was for the most part a volunteer army. When war was announced is when the plow shares would be laid down for rifles. This presented a problem as the other world powers, Japan, Germany, England and etc… were all ready for war at the drop of a hat. North Korean hackers stole private data including phone numbers and text messages, from the phone of Thae Yong-ho, the former No. 2 in the North Korean Embassy in London who is running for a National Assembly seat here.

Moon Jong-hyun of cybersecurity firm ESTsecurity in Seoul told the Chosun Ilbo on Sunday, "A North Korean hacker group launched a spear-phishing attack on specific individuals or companies rather than many unspecified people or corporations by planting malware in their computers or smartphones."

The shocking move comes only weeks after the Chinese government admitted, through their State controlled media, that they have detailed attack plans on how to conduct nuclear strikes on multiple U.S. cities.

Last week, U.S. and Chinese soldiers trained in field exercises at Bellows Air Force Base, on a Marine Corps training area on the east side of Oahu, Hawaii. While the White House dismissed the training as nothing more than a disaster relief exercise, they refused to give details on why they were allowing Chinese troops to train on U.S. Soil.

In my opinion, especially after China made their provocative nuclear plans public, allowing them to train with our military is troubling to say the least. Why we would allow them to learn any of our military tactics is beyond puzzling.

Even more troubling, is news that the White House has also invited China to take part in next year’s RIMPAC war games off the Hawaiian coast.

RIMPAC, the Rim of the Pacific Exercise, is the world’s largest international maritime warfare exercise, which in the past trained for the possibility of China invading Taiwan. So why we are now allowing China to take part in these exercises, considering the primary reason for having them was in case of a Chinese attack, is something of mystery –one that the mainstream media refuses to cover.

China’s Military Buildup

Chinese DroneChina is making huge investments into building up a military powerhouse. Early this morning, news broke that China had tested its first stealth combat drone, something that in all likelihood came from stolen U.S. military technology.

According to military analysts, China is thought to have the world’s second-largest fleet of military drones, second only to that of the United States. Much of their technology has been obtained through hacking attacks on U.S. defense contractors.

By all accounts, the Defense Department sees China as a major threat, making these latest developments even more of a mystery. In 2009, Former Defense Secretary Robert Gates, warned that China’s military modernization “could threaten America’s primary means of projecting power and helping allies in the Pacific: our bases, air and sea assets, and the networks that support them.”

But even earlier this year, the Pentagon was still warning about China’s rise in military power. In fact, back in August of this year, Air Force Gen. Herbert J. “Hawk” Carlisle, commander of the Pacific Air Forces, stated the Navy and the Air Force were moving 60 percent of its warships to the Pacific. “The Air Force is turning to that in the Pacific,” he said, noting the addition of 12 F-22s at Japan’s Kadena Air Base and 24 F-16s in South Korea to bolster jets already based there.

Half of all U.S. F-22s, which the Pentagon confirmed would be the lead aircraft in any conflict with China, are now deployed in the Asia Pacific in Alaska and Hawaii.

With an estimated 1.483 million troops, China has the largest military on the planet. While the U.S. may be ahead as far as technology, we are also sending trillions of dollars to China, who is using that money to build up its military at an unprecedented speed.

“Holocaust survivors came to the United States seeking refuge from unimaginable horrors. They have lived their lives here and enriched our nation. With an average age of 85, we have an obligation to provide Holocaust survivors the community support and special services they need to live out their final days,” Cardin said in a statement.

More than 300 national, state and local organizations – most Jewish organizations including Jewish federations, Holocaust education organizations and synagogues – signed a letter of support for the legislation

There are about 80,000 Holocaust survivors living in the United States, with one-third of them living at or below the poverty line. Aging Holocaust survivors have needs similar to other older Americans, but institutionalized settings, with confined spaces or restrictions on food, can induce panic, anxiety, and re-traumatization due to their Holocaust experiences, the bill notes.

The bill would include Holocaust survivors as a designated group with the greatest social need within the Older Americans Act; promote technical assistance and training for nonprofits that serve older adults experiencing the long-effects of trauma; and ensure that the providers of nutrition services through the Older Americans Act can meet the special dietary needs of Holocaust survivors when there is sufficient demand in a community. “

You read that right: apparently “forcing” old Jews to live in nursing homes like the rest of Americans “re-traumatizes” them and brings back unpleasant memories of living in concentration camps. So to avoid this “trauma,” American taxpayers will now foot the bill to keep them in their own homes by providing expensive in-home private nursing care around the clock. This is yet another example of jewish exceptionalism, otherwise known as “white privilege”.

And this is why it is absolutely crucial that the so-called Holocaust be exposed for the criminal shakedown operation that it is.

Apparently, America doesn’t have the same “obligation” to provide such expensive care to WWII veterans to risked their lives to defeat the Germans on behalf of world Jewry. It’s not enough for the Jews to have virtually all Christian symbols removed from the grounds of the Auschwitz concentration camp, now they want a cross on a nearby church removed, too, even though it is not on actual camp property:

“[Four] rabbis from the United States stood in front of a church located in the nearby former SS headquarters to protest what they called a “desecration” of the site where 1.1 million Jews were murdered between 1941 and 1945.

Their leader, Rabbi Avi Weiss, 75, has been protesting the placement of the church near Auschwitz-Birkenau for decades. He was arrested for demonstrating there in 1995. Weiss is also known for protesting against the establishment of a Carmelite convent in a former Auschwitz building where the Zyklon-B gas used to murder Jews was once stored. The nuns eventually left the building in 1993 on orders from Pope John Paul II…

“We’re here to protest the existence of this church in this location,” said Seligsohn. “This building had previously been an SS headquarters during the Holocaust. There were accounts of women being raped and abused here in this building. And in the 1980s it was turned into a church. We think this is a tremendous violation.”

Visitors exiting the former Birkenau extermination camp walk hundreds of yards (meters) past the camp’s ruins — isolated columns and piles of bricks jutting out of bare earth, cordoned off by lengths of jet black barbed wire. On the horizon, the church looms with its unmistakable Nazi architecture behind a towering crucifix.

The church stands just across the quiet, one-lane road that marks the former camp’s boundary. It is nearly spitting distance from the edge of the barbed wire. Behind the church is a tranquil residential neighborhood with small, tidy homes that smell of wood fireplaces…

“The only thing that’s going to be left after 50 years is these huge crosses on top of this church. People are going to think this is a Catholic site of destruction. It’s the biggest Jewish cemetery in the world,” [said Seligsohn].

…The enormous crucifix in the church’s front yard was also considered offensive even by those unaware that it was the scene of the rabbis’ demonstration.

“Coming down that road, where the sign tells me that Jewish children were marched to their deaths in crematoria four and five, then making a right out of the camp and the first thing I see is a large cross was jarring, and quite honestly, offensive,” said Andrew Silow-Carroll, editor in chief of The Jewish Week, who paid a personal visit to the site the day after the rabbis’ protest.

“I don’t begrudge them their church or their religious fellowship,” Silow-Carroll said. “But I don’t think the large cross needs to be there, looming over the camp walls in a way that stakes a claim.”

“We’re not looking for the church to close, we’re looking for it to move. Because if it remains, this is the only thing that’s going to be left in Auschwitz-Birkenau,” Weiss said. “Interfaith relations are very important to me, but a church doesn’t belong here. There comes a certain point where you have to stand up for Jewish dignity and speak up for those who can’t speak for themselves.” ”

Jews hate Christianity, and the symbol of the cross elicits the same response from many Jews as it does from vampires, a cringing revulsion.

Clearly, the neurotic Jews equate the cross with “Nazis”, so much so that they have successfully lobbied the jewish leader of the Church of England to admit that Christianity itself ‘contributed’ to the Holocaust.

And Jews could care less if anyone sees their Star of David as a symbol of pure evil, genocide and jewish supremacy. Anyone who thinks that, especially the 60 million dead Russian Christians they murdered under communism, is an ‘antisemite’.

But the Jews are correct about one thing here: after they and their imaginary Holocaust are long gone, the Christian Cross will indeed still be standing.
