Former CEO sells $9.2M stake in Yum Brands-Feb 14th

 

Yum Brands Inc.'s former chief executive officer has sold a majority of his stake in the company. Greg Creed, who served as Yum's CEO from 2015 until the end of 2019, sold a total of 87,945 shares on Friday, Feb. 14, according to a Securities and Exchange Commission filing. The shares sold for $105.16 each, for a total of $9.2 million. Now, Creed directly owns about 25,000 shares of Yum Brands (NYSE: YUM) stock. He also indirectly owns more than 163,000 shares through a limited liability company. After retiring from his role as CEO late last year, Creed has agreed to stay on Yum's board of directors and serve in a part-time advisory role through 2020. He was succeeded by David Gibbs, Yum's current CEO, on Jan. 1. During his time as CEO, Creed executed the spinoff of Yum China in 2016 and helped Yum Brands' increase its percentage of franchised restaurants.

 

Yum Brands, Louisville's second largest public company, has more than 50,000 restaurants world wide, operating under the company's three brands: KFC, Pizza Hut and Taco Bell. The company opened 2,040 net new units and generated more than $50 billion in system sales in 2019. Adjusted earnings for the year was $3.55 per share, a growth of 12% from $3.17 in 2018. Net income for the year was $1.29 billion, down 16% from $1.54 billion in 2018.
